Sony Xperia go Review
The Sony Xperia go is a fine device for voice calls. Unfortunately, the earpiece is a bit weak, so you may have a bit of a trouble hearing your callers if you happen to be in a noisy place, but overall the sound is pleasing. The microphone of the device is once again the star of the show, as it manages to transmit your voice with some very good loudness and clarity, which is also thanks to the noise-cancellation feature.

The battery life of the Xperia go is nothing to write home about. The device should be able to deliver up to 5.50 hours of talk-time and 19.2 days of stand-by time while connected to a 3G network.

The Sony Xperia go is an average device no matter how you look at it. It has a pretty good processor for its class, and we can live with the low-resolution screen, but the unpleasant plastic casing may ruin the experience for you. Still, it'll be best if you can try the phone out first prior to purchase, to see if you can live with it.

Other than that, and its Gingerbread nature, the Xperia go is a pretty decent mid-range handset, which will come in handy for those who often have to use their mobile device in conditions that involve risks of water or dust contact. In those cases, the Xperia go will surely be appreciated.

Software version of the reviewed unit: Android 2.3.7, Build 6.0.B.3.162

Sony Xperia go Review:

  • Water- and dust-resistant
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • Good HD video capture

  • Very cheap-feeling plastic build
  • Low-resolution screen

True. L5 has ICS.. but their UI sucks atleast IMO. Sony's timescape looks good... and will be better when an ICS arrives.. I really admire how timescape makes the whole package better.

One of the main things, if not THE ONLY thing that matters with this phone is it's resitance to water dust and shock !
who cares about the phone's interface we've seen and you tested it hundreds of time for Sony ericsson and sony's phones.
You should have tested the phone sturdiness ! not it's gingerbread version!

For a rugged phone, it sure doesn't look ugly like most of them do, which is a good thing IMO. I agree with Balanko, you guys should've done some tests on how sturdy the device is, since most companies don't tend to make high end rugged devices.

phone arena needs to GET A LIFE..(FOR this conclusive comment :unpleasant plastic casing may ruin the experience for you)-my hands feel great with Xperia Go (whatever Very cheap-feeling plastic build) other samsung and htc will shatter into pieces if u put the device down.

excellent device... GB feels comfort with dual core processor.

-Going to get ICS
-IP 67 rating for water & dust proof
-although Low screen resolution (SONY BRAVIA ENGINE GIVES CRYSTAL CLARITY)
-1GHz dual-core processor
-Good HD video capture

-lacks front facing camera
-1 day battery pack up

I also think the reviewer is not being fair to Xperia Go. The feel of the phone is subjective to one's view. I handled the phone recently myself, and felt that the soft-touch matt casing comfortable and sturdy on my hands. It definitely don't feel cheap, but solid.

Last week I bought Sony XPeria GO.

I am facing trouble on signal range. i.e. when I put my cell in mobile cover or in Pant's pocket, the range will gone and cross (x) sign is coming on range display. Range is fine for same network on another phone.

When I restart my phone, then it will work fine for some time.

Please advice.

I bought it and after 8 days of very careful usage a dust particle inserted under the screen! Now my new phone is for service...
I have no words to describe my disappointment ...

I thing Dust particle May be inside the screen When You're Buying the phone(manufacture defect)...Not after usage...

I want to know one thing about battery life. Guys, my mobile's battery will only last for 8-10 hours if I am using Internet and playing songs.
Any ideas about your Cell. Also if there are any ways to save battery then please share.

according to me if your'e using more time in music & web browsing(not for gaming) you can chose - L7 because more battery but no use of that

BECAUSE Single core 1 GHz Cortex-A5 not suitable for gaming when comparing Xperia Go.. acc. to me

Hardware spcs comparison : shows that L7 lack behind Xperia Go except in the case Front facing camera & pixel density(there is no much diff - 165ppi(go) & 217ppi(L7))

XPeria go has 8 GB storage whereas L7 Has 4 GB storage
Go has face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama & 720p videoquality & L7 lacks these things

1 GHz Cortex-A5 V Dual core 1 GHz Cortex-A9

GO wins ..!! ICS in L7 & GB in GO...ICS is a failure acc . to me bcoz of lot of bugs & lags...sure you can choose Xperia go for silky & smooth xperience ( my personal opinion is that is never gonna upgrade my phone ICS (although if it is released or not)only to Jelly bean)...

Hi wannaplaayy,
I can tell you about XPERIA GO because 15 days before I bought it.
GOOD - Very Sturdy, Waterproof, Excellent Touch screen, Excellent sound, Good internet speed, Android Ice Cream-Sand witch up gradable.
BAD - Battery life is short. If you are continuously using the internet and songs then only 10-12 hours of battery life. Also, there was a problem in catching the n/w signal. But after upgrading the os, this problem was got removed (See my first comment).
I will also suggest to check for HTC ONE-V.
When selecting the phone, keep in mind about Battery life of phone.
