Screen comparison: G3 vs Xperia Z2 vs Galaxy S5 vs One (M8) vs iPhone 5s

With a new flagship handset out of the gate (we're looking at you, LG G3), it's time for us to sit down, power up the calibrators, get our magnifying glasses, and do a nice and detailed inspection of what we're dealing with when it comes to that gigantic, 5.5” display...

LMAO. iPhone 5S has the best screen? Please don't let me live in this planet. iPhone 5S has a LG manufactured IPS unit, while it has fantastic colour accuracy and overall decent amount of saturation, the contrast is also nice, it can never compete with S5, or even S4 for that matter. What the heck is wrong with some people? Also the same can be said for hTC M8's screen. It's as good as iP 5S's display, if not better. And Z2 has a good display too, they over-saturated it so that people will find it attractive. Given Sony's capability with displays I definitely expected Z2 to blow everything out there, but unfortunately Sony is still arrogant. But S5, really? That display can blow anything out there at this moment, anything. I am not even going to include G3 here, cause at ~5" I find a QHD screen quite hilarious. As I said so many times before, no one is going to do photography related work (editing and all) on their cell phone, so AMOLED will rule over IPS, always. Get that straight, or keep thinking your IPS is best, I don't care, just try to get the fact for God's sake. Am I a Samsung fanboy? Lol. I sold my S4 as I was so angry with it and got myself a Moto X, hope that says enough. However I have respect for Samsung for making the best display panels for mobile devices, along with their continuous effort to provide the latest hardware, but all that cancels out for one thing only, TouchWiz, hope they will learn one day.

Accept the fact that s5 is the loser in this category. It is just a shame that some people are very enthusiastic and dedicated to samsung's super amoled technology which fakes the true color of the picture.

Did you purposely put s5 in the last position and iPhone 5s on the top? If so, correct it by swapping their positions.

What's really hilarious, is thinking outdoor visibility makes a screen better than another. Pretty sure all phone screens are visible outside on higher brightness settings. LG might not have the brightest 2K display in the world but they sure as hell would die before calling their phone "Glam Fab" or making it look like a used band aid.

Sgs5 definitely dominates in the screen game but the iPhone's blacks can be very reflective

Would've liked to have seen a Lumia 1520 on this list, they've got some pretty clever stuff going on for daylight readability.

Fard-hadbur has it right. PA definetly has this wrong and lie. The amoled screens of s5 and note 3 show the same tiger picture the best of any if those phones....not sure why it looks so different to them....I laugh

Screw all these! Lumia 1520 beats them all! but yet again you don't put it against these flagship's! Lame how this site favors everything else except windows phones

No surprise here. I really, really do not understand all the whining about the Asian brands, when it is clear, that the iPhone is only behind in pixel density. Everything else is Apple territory. And it is also very logical. Serously, people. How can you say black to the white? Comparing the engineering of Apple to some Asian manufacturer - it is clear who is going to be on top.

In Bengali we use an word called 'gandu' for stupid like you, and racist. Get one thing straight, if Apple takes Samsung's p00p twice daily even then they can never reach the quality control of Samsung. Get that straight in your dumb head.

Do you think we are stupid, apple iphone have best display? All of people know that phonearena=antisumsong really how money get from apple for comparison?

every major display-expert site says that the s5 is probably the best smartphone display right now, with the one m8 the most possible second, yet the phonearena once again shows the iphone is the best. dear phonearena authors you lose credibility this way, i hope you can see that.

Am I the only one here who thinks this is a SPONSORED article by Apple? Remember, whenever a big flagship is about to come from specific manufacturer, every blog/site starts writing articles about their last/current flagships to build hype. Doesn't surprise me if PA doing the exact same thing because iPhone 6 is just around the corner.

This article isn't accurate at all! The lg g3 isn't bad at all in sunlight and to be honest there isn't a lot out to show off the g3 just yet. Those screen shots work well for other phone bc the pic are made for a screen with lower resolution so of course lg doesn't look as good. But when they use pics or videos that show you what it can do then you will see the difference.
