Camera

All iPhones and Galaxy S phones have had wonderful cameras, and that remains true for their latest editions, the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4. However, there are some fundamental differences in terms of the camera experience. The Galaxy S4, being a Samsung device, features all kinds of settings, shooting modes, effects and so on for you to play with. The iPhone 5, on the other hand, has a super-simple approach to imaging. Beyond the option to press the camera shutter, it offers you just three other settings – HDR, Grid, and Flash.

Regardless of the complexity of their user interfaces, both devices take wonderful images. Thanks to their higher, 13MP resolution, the shots from the Galaxy S4 pack some additional detail that isn't visible in the images of the iPhone 5. Furthermore, the Galaxy S4's photos tend to be more realistic in terms of colors. Apple's device usually tends to saturate things a bit too much. Photos from its 8MP camera often look cool, but not very natural. Exposure is better with the iPhone 5, as the Galaxy S4 overexposes some areas from time to time.

Indoor shots come out pretty good with both phones, though the Galaxy S4 has an advantage thanks to its bigger resolution, and slightly better LED flash, which allows it to take better photos in dimly-lit environments.

It's very hard to pick a better camera-phone when it comes to 1080p video recording. While the Galaxy S4 camera captures slightly sharper footage, which we like, that comes at the expense of having more noise, which we don't like, but overall, the difference isn't too noticeable. Sound recorded through the GS4's microphone sounds better, as it's louder and clearer, whereas the one from the iPhone 5 sounds quieter and a bit muffled.

Multimedia

If you plan to use your smartphone for multimedia-centric tasks, such as video playback and games, the Galaxy S4 is undoubtedly the better choice due to its larger, 5” display. Not that you won't like watching video on the brilliant iPhone 5 screen, but the experience will be much more enjoyable and comfortable with the GS4.

S4 all the way. IPhone only wins with call quality and materials. The GSIV is the better phone.

come on there are no reasons for such comparison the galaxy s4 is way far more better than the iremote5 in all ways.

iPhone 5 should not be called iremote as you all know the galaxy s4, htc one and lg optimus pro are the only phones that feature infrared emitter to act as a remote so just keep that in mind

I'm not quite sure how a phone made of aluminum and glass is so much better quality. Polycarbonate (the material used on the S4) is the same material used to make safety glasses. I don't know about you, but if it's good enough to protect my eyes then it's damn well good enough for my phone. You don't see companies making safety glasses out of glass do you? Polycarbonate is designed to take a lickin and keep on ticken, which glass is not. As for the aluminum, yeah it looks cool, but it's what they make coke cans out of. There is a reason for that. It is a cheap material. Also it can be scratched and dented very easily, so there is nothing quality about that.

a very clever explanation... they are just way too hypnotised by the ads Apple guys made regarding their Iphone5. Aluminium is softer than plastic, it deforms easily. I found two-three tiny scratches and light deformation of my friend's Iphone5's edges on its aluminium case, too bad...

Call quality, build quality , Apps, better camera and the most important things the software keep up with the hardware.

That means you have "eyesight" problems: S4 has a worse display, worse call quality, worse camera (just wait and see low light shots), wores user experience, slower browsing (Ray "forgot" to mention), worse design. But, hey, in your world, S4 is better because it has 5" display and uses Android.

23. LonghornTech

Worse display? Doubt it, its bigger and higher ppi which actually makes it much easier to do nearly every task one would do on their phone. I already said it has worse call quality, though that's not something you see with your eyes. Yes, low light is probably miserable but the Iphones isn't great either so I wouldn't be to proud of the results. Worse user experience is just nonsense, you've obviously not used Android. Slower browser is also questionable and design is only marred by materials which I already mentioned. In my world S4 is better because it's OS is not 4+ years old and unchanged

Only in your world. I don't give a f* about size if I can't watch my display in direct sunlight; iP display gets a little darker than One's so you can see better at night; iP 5 has better viewing angles. WTF are you talking about S4 having better display? It's not better, it's just bigger. I have been using Android for 3 years now and I can say, although it grows everyday, it's far from being as great as some of you picture it to be. In every browsing test first 2 places are held by iPad and iPhone, with Nexus 10 being third. That means iPhone 5 browsing speed is higher that S4's and that's a fact; I don't give a f* if you like it or not. Your world must be a special one where Alice is friends with the queen of hearts...

Since S4 uses Amoled screen it has the lowest reflectance in the current crop of high end smart phones. So sunlight legibility would be far better than your iRemote5. You have never seen the galaxy s4 in person and you criticize about its design based on press images... lol "In every browsing test first 2 places are held by iPad and iPhone, with Nexus 10 being third. That means iPhone 5 browsing speed is higher that S4's and that's a fact;"- current S4 web browsing tests are based on pre production software and it will be better once it gets finalized (The same was the case in S3 when released). You should be living under a rock and lead a sad life. Time for you to get out of the cave...

I used to own galaxy s2, note 1, S3, note 2, wave 1, galaxy nexus and samsung omina HD before all these phones comes with Amoled pen tile and all of these Samsung phones sunlight legibility ZERO when you compere it with iphone 4, 4s and 5 sunlight legibility except the note 2 a bit better.

I don't know stuff because S4 haven't been released yet but your stuff about the same S4 must be right because... you said them; nevermind you have the same info about S4 I have... How dumb do you consider everyone to be?

I don't think the video is a fair comparison due to the fact that he is comparing a pre production demo of the s4 to whatever that small black thingy is (j/k). I'm not saying it's a bias comparison but it's certainly not a fair one at least not until a better optimized S4 comes out versus the IPhone 5s. I would have like to have seen it compared in day to day use to really test out it's brightness, call quality, battery life etc. I would say however the S4 wins hand down in features alone and it's something Samsung can build on for the future whether if anyone agrees it's innovation or not. The Galaxy Note 2 is a prime example of that and no one can't deny that it wasn't a game changer. Apple commands the U.S. market share but Samsung rules the world in terms of global share and profit in the mobile space. Besides when that Note 3 drops, nothing is touching it. And I mean nothing. If that unbreakable display finally makes It way to the Note 3, it will obliterate everything in it's path. All you need to do is tell people "screen doesn't break when it drops" plus possible 1080p OLED display and people will throw hoards of cash at it. Not to mention Samsung advertisements is so aggressive these days. I probably seen a Galaxy Note 2 or a GS3 commercial every 5 minutes when i turn on the the TV. And aside from talking about the Note 3, when they finally put these unbreakable displays on there products going forward on and advertise to the masses. GAME OVER!!! Don't even talk to me about to me about "Rotten Apples" no more. And I hope Samsung never let's another company use there components. Keep that s**t in-house.

I started to agree but the Samsung's Note line is just too much of a niche product. I think the Note series is a great set of phones, but no matter how good the Note 3 is I do not see myself buying one and I doubt that sales will surpass Iphone or Galaxy's. The device is just too large and unpractical in my opinion.

63. rdemon

I respect your comment Monseuir Longhorn. I would of agreed with you about the note being a niche product when the first one come out about three years ago. But the Note 2 has developed quite a fanfare due to the advertising. Besides 10 million Note 2's sold worldwide ain't to shabby to build upon. It's cool if they wanna take subliminal shots at the competition but those "Unicorn Apocalypse" commercials ain't cutting it. I think with the Note 3 they need to showcase how it would be more useful in everyday use whether it be business, entertainment, educational, etc. I think where Samsung can improve in it's commercials is do better job on convincing the public on the necessities of their product features. And you really wouldn't buy a phone with an unbreakable screen. Something Flapple could never conceive of doing. Oh and Leo guy is an idiot. Someone should let him now that Samsung just made his phone look like the first Motorola.

Yeah S4 is better than iP5 because Note 3 might have "indestructible" display... Is like saying Bruce Lee kicks the sh* out of van Damme.

Dude your douche. There's no way of you knowing your IPussy 5 is better than the beast which is the S4 until a true test from a post production unit of the S4 and the IPhone 5 are ready for a real comparison. Although I'll go out on a limb here and say the S4 will bitch slap the IPhone. 5s and all. Besides check the benchmarks fool. And Bruce Lee would kick the s**t out of Van Damme, he stinks. If your saying the S4 and the Note series are like the Bruce Lee of smartphones, well then thanks.

Now this is interesting as nearly everyone who has seen this video agrees that the Xperia Z shots are warmer and more natural than that of the iP5. Regardless, people still choose to hate on the Xperia Z.........lol. http://youtu.be/z0cN_NPSNu0

Today Phonearena did an article about screen quality; the result: S4 has one of the worst displays on today's phones (with S3 having an even worst display) so go there and explain how is S4 better than the rest (iphone, Z, 920, One and S3).
