Samsung Galaxy S10e Review

The Samsung Galaxy S10e is a phone made for the most neglected type of users in the past couple of years: those who prefer a smaller phone. The S10e finally brings for them a flagship Android experience with no compromise...

Finally a score above 9 for an android phone. The one thing that bothers me is that if this phone gets a 9.2, then how come the S10+ only got 9? It's pricier, but obviously the better in almost every aspect.

I always find it funny how we post a review with a ton of details, photos and a bunch of other info, but everyone in the comments is obsessing over the score. And yes, scoring is probably the toughest part of reviewing a phone, it's hard to put thousands of words in a single number :)

hey Victor, What should we do in order to get full resolution photos of the reviews? beg you? You are professional site, that reviews high end phones, what should i conclude with measly 1600x1200 resolution??? PLEASE give us full resolution option, include the regular album, but under it add full resolution link to gdrive/whatever, thanks.

Because this is the perfect phone. The score reflects the total package including the price. I have the s10+ and yes it has more gadgets but most of those features also have a downside. Higher resolution: yes s10/s10+ is better and higher resolution is also handy when looking at 4k footage. Winner s10/s10+ Curved screen: honestly i prefer a flat screen with curved bezels. Looks better and no accidental touches when holding the phone. Winner s10e Inscreen fingerprint: looks awesome but needing to press on the screen a bit is annoying. Also because there are no edges you sometimes miss the spot. With the s9 i only had to touch the scanner lightly and it would unlock. S10e optical scanner should be the same so Winner s10e 3rd camera Telelens: Basically useless. Same with the second depth sensor on the front of the s10+. Yeah its nice to have but how many times will you actually use it. Zoom still sucks on smartphones. And definitely not worth the price difference. All other specs are the the same. Yes a bigger phone will get you a bigger battery and screen but does that make it a better phone? Nope, thats just personal preference. So as a phone I also think this one looks and is the "better" one of all 3. The only reason I went with the s10+ is because i really wanted a big phone. If they had released a s10e plus for the same price as the s10+ i would have gone with the s10e plus.

The best version of the S10s, if you like Galaxy phones, imo. No gimmick ultrasonic that can’t work with tgsp, no gimmick edge display with false touches, more compact, and still 95% functional as the more expensive versions.

Every review on this planet is raining compliments on the side fingerprint scanner on the S10e, and even me as an owner of an S10+ and tried the S10e, wish we had the side mounted fps, not that it isn't good, but the one on the S10e is better than every fps I've ever tested before. Yet, and somehow, this is a con and isn't better than FaceID. First, how is it not better? And two, I've never seen you guys do a direct comparison between the fps and faceid in a review. But for the sake of it, explain how an authentication method that needs one simple tap to lock and unlock your device, that is hack proof and can be used for gestures, is worse than a method that can be tricked, that is significantly slower, and isn't as consistent.

The placement of the scanner is bad - very bad - that's why is worse than even a pin code...

You need to use face ID to understand the beauty of it. Like i've said many times. Unlocking your phone is only part of it. The more secured apps you use the better Face ID gets. It's like invisible lock. People can't read your notifications on lockscreen. When you use banking apps, whatsapp etc. or fill passwords online, face ID just do those automaticly for you. As i use fingerprint scanner with my iPad every day and have face ID with my phone i can see how effortless it makes the whole experience.

I have an iPhone X. My ONLY complaint about it is FaceID. It’s not as fast or as convenient as a good fingerprint scanner, and likely not as secure, either, at least, for me. I have to pick up the phone and aim it at my face. This, of course, is only my opinion. Crazy how it’s different from yours, eh? Unlike you, I’m not going to try to convince everyone that I’m right, and they’re wrong. Enjoy your FaceID, if it works better for you. Don’t assume that it’s the best for everyone. That’s just arrogant.

I totally agree. Also comparing two different approaches of biometric sensors is like comparing apples to oranges. The S10E implementation is as good as it can get. No need to downplay such goodie

My thoughts, exactly. I own the S10e and the fps is blazing fast. Like how MKBHD has shown in his S10e review. Still, PA insists that FaceID is faster when you can't even unlock your phone without looking at it.

This honestly looks to be the phone to beat this year. It's a super compelling package at a more palatable price. Definitely my favourite of the S10 trio.

How can a phone that only last for 7h in the battery test get a 9.2 rating?? This result alone would be a deal breaker for me!

they change that...lower is now better :)

Because their own real life experience doesn't match their crappy battery test that supposedly reflect real life usage "Our real-life experience shows that this phone will definitely last you a full day, even if it’s a longer one, and you should not be worried about the smaller battery size."

It actually last me almost the whole day before charging it again

Check any S10e battery test on youtube. It easily beat XR in all of them. And even beat XS Max.

Yeah, beat. With great S855 on board.

I have had the s10e for a few days now and I can generally agree with this review, especially when it comes to the fingerprint sensor and case situation. That has been kind of annoying to deal with and I'll like to find a case that is less annoying about this. Battery life has been fine for me though. Good review.

You should train your fingerprint in such a way when you use it, not when you just clearly "training" your fps. Try holding it like you naturally hold it. Like from your pocket or suddenly taking your phone from a desk or something. Don't train the same area of your finger, Deliberately train every corner of your finger.

It is the simplest of the trinity but got higher score? Same price of iPhone Xr 64Gb, but called overpriced.

It gets the basics right, compared to the other two.

What an irony isn't it? Somehow the wide angle camera, reverse charging, 3.5mm jack, better AMOLED display, and double the RAM and Storage are not enough value for the S10e to not be called overpriced

In my opinion this is the best out of three S10 models. I only regret that FP scanner is placed too high and interface in general in spite of being fast still not very smooth. This is something Samsung always fails to do. And of course baterry life could have been better. Probably Snapdragon version will be better for battery life and I hope to see comparisons on youtube. Also hope Samsung releases firmware update which will fix battery life and overall smoothness of interface. Will be a good purchase starting from 650 USD and below.

Cons: a bit too pricey, i dont remember seeing that on the iphone xr review? That's a con for all iphones, actually.
