Positives/Pros: The Nokia N-8 is the best phone I have ever owned and used. The phone is great in nearly every way. I have never spent close to $600.00 for a phone, but it is worth the money. The camera has the highest megapixels of 12. I have owned the Nokia N-8 for almost a week now. I have been a Nokia owner/user since the year of 2004. I have owned several Nokia models i.e 2220, 3600, 5300 and others. Like commenter Wreckone, I just put away my Nokia E-71 and I hated the blackberry Qwerty keyboard because the numbers do not match up like on a home or office phone. I like Nokia brand phones more than any other for such reasons as the FM radio, slider style etc… Everything about the N-8 is great in terms of what it has to offer.
I personally have used the maps and found them to be accurate for me. I was impressed. The only thing that I did not realize is that when driving around, a N-8 owner without cell phone internet or Sirius satellite radio, the phone will Not be able to do a map reading, which is the case in my 10 year Dodge Neon. However in my 1 year old Mercedes Benz which came with Sirius satellite radio, the GPS maps from Nokia N-8 works great. So far, I can totally trust the Nokia Ovi maps. This phone is better than a mid range phone, better than a HTC and I phone4 is in second place and I totally agree with writers Wreckone and RVM.

However, I still highly recommend the N-8. It is well worth the money and just as good or better than the Apple I-phone4, which I was going to buy, but I am glad that I waited until Nokia came out with the N-8. On a scale of 1-10 and 10 being top, I give the Nokia N-8 a solid 9+. I would give it a 10 except for the reason below in terms of lack of local repair shops in the U.S.A. There is only one in Plainfield, IN.

My recommendation is for anyone that has to call for repair service or general questions at Nokia in Manila, Philippines, be sure to ask for Ms. Zarina. She is a supervisor and she is the best in helping a customer. The only other negative thing is that so far there aren’t any Nokia authorized cell repair stores in any major cities. A-T-T nor T-Mobile can help with this phone because they do Not sell it, so store reps will Not be able to help at all and live customer service is once again, sad to say, but located outside of America in Manila and with only east coast time zone hours of 9-6.

well having used n8 personal opinion very stable set, it will provide u all the features with such low hardware and works seamlessly, the phone is bulky but thats the reason feels durable in hand. symbian 3 is a letdown both interms of power and apps which are simply basic in graphics and functionality and do not harness the n8s power. when nokia turns over to meego which looks quite promising then i think their smartphone sales will quite improve.
so people who wanna buy a phone
1. very costly feature to price phone, but if u wanna something that will last and not a very complex os then go for n8
2. if u want a camera and a phone in ur pocket then buy n8 its the best shooter til date.
3. if u r searching for high end games and graphics buy android or iphone.
4. if ur a business user blackberry has no competition.
5. if u need ur screen to be a startling wonder then buy a iphone or samsungs super amoled.
6. if u need a phone that a novice user can understand then go for n8 else buy something else, but dont be fooled by android show n8 can prettty much do all the smartphone basic features and that too at factory config.
7. if u really wanna buy a smartphone put ur money in bank uptil june 2011, cos samsung galaxy s2 apple i5 and nokia new meego model x7 coming soon. so let the competition
heat up

It's not bad phone but 8.5 is just overrated. It has great hardware but Symbian OS still doesn't work well with touch screen. I used iPhone and Galaxy S before and Symbian ^3 UI is still horrible to use with touch screen. I also have Nokia E5 and that works great with Qwerty Keypad but not with touch screen. They need to seriously think about dropping Symbian OS for touch screen devices completely and bring out WP7 devices alot quicker.

This mobile is one of the greatest invention ever by Nokia company but I wanted it to run on an android operating system because the symbian is a big flop in the industry. It could also be the QNX operating system. :|

I'm waiting for mine. I really like the multimedia capabilitis of this phone (expecially the HDMI out and the USB on the Go, that allows you to use the phone as a drive reader), but the thing that made me decide for the N8 was the price. I bought it unlocked for less than 400 US$, the iPhone 4 was 270 US$ higher. It's impossible to be better in everything, so obviously the iPhone is better than the N8 in some things and worst in other, but when you put the US$ 270 in the balance is the end of the discussion.

Nokia phones are great in terms of quality. I think , maybe Android is the best OS, but I'll go for N8 cause It will last longer than any brand of phones.

N8 has not really delivered as per the expectation and the price it was sold at. I am totally pissed off with this phone and so is the story from my other friends using this phone. I have already sent it to Nokia care for couple of times and I literally feel like banging it on the ground. I have to reboot it at least 3 times a day and then it keeps hanging and giving all kinds of probs on a daily basis. I think I did a blunder to buy this.I think Nokia has reached the fag end now.People should look for androids now. Give Nokia a break now. IN case you need more inputs drop me a note at pkpandita@gmail.com.

To those who don't understand a couple of things.
Let's take screens.
210 ppi for the 701 vs. 217 ppi for the S II.
Are you sure Nokia-haters that you still have sth to say. SII has "ancient" resolution 800x480 on such a huge screen. So what that it is Super duper amoeld with over saturated colors? Pixel density is almost identical with those on Nokia'as N8, C7, 701 and so on so on.
CBD is truly a great display. New generation IPS LCD from Nokia is great too. it doesn't have pixel density as Iphone 4 (neither any androphone) but it's symbian fault, not display itself.

How many apps do you really need?
Do you know what smartphone means?
You think tha Ipone or androphone are smartphones. THE only smartphones? Twink again.
Nokia was the "first" known smartphones producer. And still is.
You got the best maps you can only have on mobile phone, fm transmitter, really good camera (sorry, but androphones still lacks in this department...i'd rather have 720p videos with smooth 24 frames and STEREO sound than jerking and chooping 1080p with MONO sound recorded in 3gp using DUAL core and gigs of ram to run the system smooth

Camera. Yes. My favourite point.
There is no dubts. N8 has the best camera in mobile industry. Period. End. Behind this camera are experience, great engineers, Damian D. and creativity. Look what other manufacturers do. They put into dual cores, gigs of ram and what? They think that it will increase quality of photos or films? Nokia used "old" chipset and gpu and look what they managed. Best camera and great videos. And STEREo sound with active noise canc. And boy, believe me. Recording concert is a pleasure. After that, you can hear your conversation with your friend and sounds are not blurry sth mixed bag of noise. You can hear MUSIC, not bzzzzzzz and instruments. Even vocals. Wow. Andros, Amazing, right?

I think Nokia had to take a breath before jump on the right track and start fighting for the right place.
They choosed Windows platform. Well, let it be. They abandoned Symbian. That's a shame in my opinion, because Belle is great. Win 7 has a future and massive potential in it. With Nokia experience, Microsoft and Nokia can do truly great phones.
They cut the MeeGo...that is unforgiven mistake.
They could develop it as a backup secondary system. They are so pwoerful company that they could do that. But they didn't...Elop didn't want to. Who knows real reasons? Maybe he has some extraordinary vision of Nokia future which we don't see?

One one thing. Sometimes when I read comments I have a feeling that most of users and "commentators" are just kids, who got they first phone last christmas and have no idea what they are talking about.
Their god is Iphone or high end andro device and moreover they think that everything has started with IOS or Andro.
And those two systems are the only smartphone systems. IOS is not a system and Iphone is not a smartphone (but we can make an assumption that every phone which do whatever he must do, for example: make some photo, video, being used as a navigation, schedule, internet browser or e-mail client IS a smartphone...our private assistant...then yes. IOS, Andro, PalmOS, Symbian, WIN 7 are SMARTPHONES but different approach - and I honestly think that we should see them in that way, not by apps in i-net stores). Android is new and a little bit retarded. Don't make it more perfect that it really is.
