Nokia Lumia 520 vs Nokia Lumia 620

0. phoneArena posted on 27 Jun 2013, 10:23

It’s time to compare two affordable and cute compact Windows Phone 8 handsets. Both are colorful and fun on the outside, but could there still be a sea of difference inside?…

Both are good, cheap ways to try Windows Phone. I'm pretty impressed with Nokia being able to release these.

620 obviously wins, but the 520 is prettier and more Lumia-ish in design aspect!

Nokia is serious about building their brand in developing markets, and their Asha feature phones are amazing successes in sales in theses areas. Both of these are perfect devices to fit that goal of moving these markets into affordable smartphones. The 520 is the better device for those goals, although the 620 is nice counter programming.

@ the author Victor H. Regarding Browser options on Lumia and WinPho 8 - There are multiple browser options. While the default, inbuilt one is IE, there are plenty more browser apps available in the Marketplace.

Otherwise, a good review. Price parameter - 520. Build option parameter - 620.

Precisely. Nokia even offers quite a good one, Nokia Xpress, which compresses data and makes for faster, leaner browsing, great for 2- and 3G-only areas, suxh as the target developing markets in certain countries

Just went back to an Htc Radar with 7.8 & gonna return a 620 . While the 620 is a great device. The camera on the Radar is still actually better esp in lower light because of the lower aperture they put in it & BSI sensor. I think I am preferring HTC WP overall now. Funny too how the radar still has a better camera on it then the HTC 8s that came after it. Lumia 620 does have one of the loudest speakers though. Also puzzling to me they left a flash off the 520 . Always something right.

If I'm not mistaken 520 doesn't have compass and NFC. You should emphasize the "add-on" software from Nokia like Here maps, drive, Nokia Xpress, etc. Drive in both have offline navigation but different license.

Skip both and get the Lumia 720. Thinner, nicer, and prettier, with a much better camera (and flash). Barring that, I'd go for the 620; despite the smaller screen, it has more goodies making it more worthwhile.

I guess the reviewer forgot to mention one very important aspect, Nokia Lumia 620 has free voice guided naviation over all the countries whereas Lumia 520 has this functionality restricted to a single country. This is a very important issue for those who use Nokia's superb voice guided naviation service.

What country is the 520 restricted to? Never heard this before.
