Nokia 6 Review

0. phoneArena posted on 07 Aug 2017, 09:21

Retailing in the U.S. for either $180 (Amazon version with ads) or $230, the specs and the design of the 6 seem ripe with potential. Does Nokia finally have a modern division contender?

Nokia 6 is getting 8?
I'm a Nokia fan
But 7.5 maybe the right score?

Reviews are opinions. There's no such thing as a "right" score. The score is whatever you deem it to be. Besides, if you haven't actually used the device, how can you give it a score?

And would you care to elaborate why?

They gave the Moto G5 a score of 7, yet they give this one a score of 8. Why did PhoneArena give it a 7 when the the Nokia 6 wasn't even out, yet. The Moto G5 has more features, better software upgrades. Same processors, same resolution display only the G5 display is physically smaller and brighter. The G5 has a removable battery. Whereas the Nokia 6 doesn't. The finger print scanner is faster and does more on the G5 as well.

better software upgrades??
this is not the old moto, their upgrades cycle slow down significantly in the past few months
nokia impressed so far regarding the upgrades

when they give a better phone redmi note 4
( better battery, more ram and memory, better processor at the same price ) a lower score, it doesn't feel right.
not only redmi note 4, but other phone that gets lower than 8 but seems to be a better deal at their own rice range
but again, thia is my opinion, you can have different opinion from mine...

I'll chime in. The wireless radio on the Nokia 6 is utter garbage. Using it as a phone is an exercise in futility. Everything else about the phone is beautiful. I just can't get past that part. I'd probably give the thing a 6.5 for that reason alone.

I've had my 6 since last Fri and using it as a phone is really good - perhaps your one is faulty? I live in UK and use the O2 network.

Hope other writers can learn this review (but I guess that score 8 was a bit high IMO), unlike some only know keep biased, or given an unfair score at least 9.2.

Keep it up!

Well I bought one last Fri and give it 10
One of the CONS states:
"Fingerprint authentication requires two taps, one to wake up and one to authenticate"
The article states 'two taps' - you don't tap it you just hold your finger on until it opens the screen. Mine does not need two touches - just one and it's reliable.
Was the phone on test a pre-production model perhaps?

The 2 tap unlock is actually because their unit is an Amazon exclusive with ads. I've seen the same behavior on the amazon ads Moto G5, what would be the point if with fingerprint unlock you could bypass the ads? So they force the user to see the lockscreen (The first tap actually unlocks the device, afert that you can tap again or swipe to unlock)

I kinda like the Nokia 6, but I can't really see how the score can match the G5 Plus and actually beat out the Honor 6x. Both of those seem like better bang for your buck options.

specs wise yes, but features, updates and build quality Nokia 6 is better than them.
-Dolby atmos is amazing go to youtube and see test
-every month Nokia 6 get security updates, even this august nokia 6 already received August security updates.
-polarising screen layer same as clear black display,
-Nokia 6 is tough, phone like huawei 6x receive poor review in this area,
-stock android

I like Nokia have included NFC that support Android Pay super convenient feature.

The problem with budget phone especially the ones from China Phone OEM is the lack of NFC support.
