Motorola PHOTON 4G Review

0. phoneArena posted on 01 Aug 2011, 06:34

Not too long ago Motorola was teetering on the brink of viability, but along came a little green robot and the company’s fortunes have changed drastically. Sprint’s situation isn’t quite as bleak, but its hoping that their renewed partnership with Motorola helps turn the tide for the nation’s number three carrier. They’re kicking things off with a bang with the Motorola Photon 4G, a beastly phone with a massive spec sheet...

Don't buy this phone!

Google Photon 4g Screen of Death. The phone will either not wake from sleep mode or the it will reboot 4-10 times a day thus rendering it useless as a phone.

Most of us have called Motorola, Sprint and have blogged about it on the Motorola User Forums. After many different troubleshooting steps and still no word from Motorola or Sprint, MY SUGGESTION TO YOU IS TO FORGET ABOUT THE MOTOROLA PHOTON 4G FROM SPRINT.

I have the Photon and haven't had any problems at all. Although, my friend is on the same phone plan as I and had the same exact problems you're describing with her EVO 3D. Both phones are great and rarely have problems. I'm guessing with you also maybe that it was a surprise to the sprint people that you were having such problems with the Photon. My point is that even though the phone is as great as it is, there could be problems that have nothing to do with the phone or the user. It is frustrating, but after my friend having the phone replaced twice along with countless trips with her to the sprint store to get a hard reset we finally traded the phone for a different model which how the whole phone issue was finally dealt with.

The Motorola Photon is the next 4G device in the line up for Sprint's network. The Gingerbread phone sports a 4.3 qHD touchscreen display along with a kickstand. The device seems rather similar to the Atrix, but it does seem to have it's own charm about it. The Motorola Photon sports a dual-core Tegra 2 chip with WiMAX, CDMA, and GSM capabilities. The Android device can reach up to ten hours of talk time and is powered by a 1700mAh battery. To keep your Motorola Photon protected, why not it with some of our Motorola Photon Accessories?

I've had my Photon for about a month and a half now. I love the thing. The only thing I'm disapointed about is the phone was advertised to have 16GB of memory on the phone, while the phone I received only has 8GB. Other than that I always catch myself looking at how beautiful the phone's screen looks.

I had an original Moto flip razor years ago, but was reassured that moto phone quality had done a 180 sense then. I bought this phone being reassured it would get the ICS upgrade (never happened). On my third (not by choise) Photon. The first one worked flawlessly for about a year. I bought the dock because I use the phone as night clock and it can not charge using the kickstand. the microusb port is in the way. After a year the phone would reboot for no other reason other than touching the phone. The next one lasted three months before doing the same. This one is starting to do the same. I am on my 17th month and can get a new phone at 18 months. It will not be a Motorola even if it is made in USA.
