I don’t think the brightness level is right I saw an screen comparison under sun light between S9 plus, iPhone X, G7 and P20 Pro unfortunately iPhone X the brightest second goes S9 plus even though both screen are OLED and G7 IPS.

I would like to see that. Extra white subpixels only can boost white content. That peak brightness is measured at full white screen. It's no brighther than a standard RGB when it comes to colorful content. And when it comes to outdoor visibility, reflectivity is usually more important than brightness. OLED's are less reflective thus more visible at outdoors and iPhone X has brightest* OLED. *Samsung's own phones claims higher peak brightness, but not at full white screen.

OLED's always have trouble keeping high brightness levels when displaying a white screen.

Hmm, it sounds like there have been some improvements. I'm glad that the front camera has been finally improved!

About the cons: AI Camera and slow camera app- software update can fix this. No bootloop issue in my g6 so it's a good start to improve g7. Battery- lcd display, what do we expect? But I think lg can give us a software update like samsung's FHD to QHD thing. Design- Not original but subjective to anybody. I haven't seen it in person yet, might look awesome for me if given a chance. I just want LG to improve their UI and price. Go near stock android, pit G7 between $630 to $700 and they might compete with oneplus 6 popularity. And also, make g7+ have a better camera sensor and larger battery. People are willing to pay big money, lg as long as you don't screw the over-all quality.

Design: Ok, so the Oneplus 6's design is very stylish and refined according to PA, and it's in the pros, yet the G7's design is unoriginal and is in the cons. I mean what in the hell? The same design on one phone is a pro and on the other it's a con? Couldn't get more biased than this I suppose.

on the g7 even with the notch the screen doesnt go up to the top as far as it could. lg could have almost put the what they needed in the top bezel w/o the notch in my opinion.

G7 is deserving of a 9. It improved a lot on the G6 and it has very few cons.

I don't mind the OP6 getting a 9, but then I think the G7 should get between 8.5-9. Oh yeah, and the Mi Mix 2s got 9 points.....for what exactly, that big, ugly bottom bezel, with the inconvenient camera placement?

The battery benchmark says it all. 9+ hrs with the LG V30+ that I own. I wont be downgrading to this POS G7 and lose 2hrs SOT... What a disappointment...

Dude, their battery test is flawed. I average almost 6hrs of screen on time with my G7.

8?!?!?!!?!!! Well, not surprised at all. I'm expecting phonearena will give LG that overall score. Considering they just reviewed a non final software and G7 is not out yet. I just can't understand when it comes to LG, phonearena is holding back to give higher mark. LG's highest score so far was V30's. With so many standout feature G7 has still unable to score atleast 8.5? But with the likes of oneplus, samsung and ofcourse iphone, 9 is easy. WOW!

True, it does have the characteristics of a premium phone, but it could use more character. Hmmmm...........PA it is basically a glass screen with metal rails and more glass on the rear!

Guys you can give so incoherent and subjective "cons" in your reviews you should work on that it is so unprofessional. Anyway about the phone I'm sad LG gave up the back side buttons, these opposite side buttons are so inconvenient you always push the opposite as well as you support your hand. Especially dislike the volume buttons or rockers which placed on the left side as it would aim the left handed users. I had always troubles understand OEMs using this side for the volume button, weird. Bye the way I saw this phone the other day and I was surprised how vivid and colorful and vibrant its display is. Looked awesome!

The score seems low to me. The device isn't... exciting... but it's also very capable and seemingly well designed. The only real con is the battery life, which I do think warrants a score below 9, but 8 seems like to much of a subtraction for this weakness.

This phone doesn't deserve an 8. At least an 8.5 - 8.9 would be more accurate since the only downside of this phone is the battery.

And phone design is still in the cons despite OP6's same design is in the pros section. BOO PHONEARENA

Downside is battery and design originality. But to be fair, every iPhone X copycat should have design originality as a con.

The automatic brightness is really bad. Way too dark on auto

Lg's have had this problem forever. Don't even bother using it on my V30. And to make it worse, T-mobile makes LG disable the slider on their phones. HTC always gets it right. Nice and bright on auto with the slider at max.

Why would anyone buy a phone with such a lousy battery life??

With this analogy, why would anyone buy an iPhone? Your argument is invalid my friend.

Why is LG sticking with the 3,000 mAh capacity on every G iteration? Are they not moving forward in terms of battery life at all?

If only it had 6 GB RAM, you know , just so that they show to customers that they are going the extra mile. I am sure nobody would mind paying $10 -$20 per unit extra...

LG has been good to me and my crew. Very dependable and lasting phones. A fan. Wish their UI was a little less intrusive. But overall I recomend them to anyone sight unseen.
