Lmao, just saw other reviews and most of them are naming the mate 20 pro the most advanced and best Android phone in existence. PhoneArena though *facepalm*

If hollowmost don't want the most advanced and best android phone of 2018 then let him be. Your product hype is becoming an obsession.

Most of the cons can be fixed with future software updates. Still a decent score only 0.4 behind the iphone or 0.1 behind the note 9.

What a biased article ,the phone that has the best camera in the world with best features with less gimmicky ones are called as pricey and phone that looks ugly(obviously pixel) and don't even have proper sim support and versatility are considered worthy of price tag(iphone)... Not to mention pathetic display resolution in 800$ module...what a shame and to be honest when apple and pixel adds one camera feature it is tested thoroughly and judged on basis of that but when another company does the same they just test it in its auto mode and pass the judgement without trying... if this is 8.9 then rest of the phones have to be below 8.5

Pricey? In Europe, Pixel 3 XL 6+128 version launch price is 1050 Euros, iPhone XS Max is 1300 Euros. In China, Mate 20 Pro starts at 750 USD.

And those phones are price too. Nice of you to use Europe pricing for P3 and iPhone but then a Chinese price, without sales tax, for the Mate 20. Get your bias out of here.

China doesn't have sales tax separated from the price. The sales tax is included in the price.

I think it's funny that it has an IR blaster but no headphone jack.

Vicky is quiet inconsistent with phone cameras. Earlier this month he was not able to capture cloudy sky with Huawei MAte 20 Pro ( I think it was photo shoot against Iphone) but today this camera is capable. What does it say? Whether photographer is not capable or cherry picking on his side.

He was the same person that captured absolutely horrible photos with the note 9 not too long ago. Such a shame

Yup, I remember that lol The pictures came out all smudgy and blown out, when we all know the Note 9 is a beast of a cameraphone in low light conditions. Then all of a sudden, and in another shootout, the Note 9 was capable of showcasing it's low light skills. Yet, they never acknowledged the fact that their initial shootout was flawed.

Huawei Mate 10 Pro battery life was 12h 5 min. by PA so this phone must have sky-high battery life but sadly not good enough to mention here with proper numbers...also in-screen fingerprint scanner is cons now???

This review shows that companies who are betting underscreen scanner are betting wrong horse. Luckily Huawei phone has face recognition which is just so effortless to use If it's done right Hands down the best Android phone in the market

Actually not too impressed with this review. Phonearena can't put the battery life figure even unofficially, due it to not meeting their criteria for keeping the screen rightness at certain level. Every other site will not do this. The battery life is a major feature that is not getting properly highlighted. Then criticising a groundbreaking first in screen fingerprint sensor in a widely available flagship smartphone. Maybe it is useful to be able to use it on the front of the device, especially when on a table or in a vehicle mount and also not reduce screen size. The Mate 20 Pro's lower bezel is very slim. Mentioning uncertainty about updates, when this phone ships with Android P and Huawei have recently announced a large number of older smartphones of theirs that are getting updated to Android P soon, while a few already have it. I also do not agree with the view that the Pixel 3 and IPhone cameras are better. The pixel 3' produces very fake images with very dark blue and greens. The iPhone is rather fake too with their ai image improvements. The Mate 20 Pro's colours are very good and a good improvement over the P20 Pro. Phone arena is the only site that manages to get bad pictures out of the Mate 20 Pro and Note 9. Also every other reviewer gets 311k on Antutu, but Phonearena only manages 265K for some reason. Only 5K more than a Oneplus 6... I will criticise Huawei for not including 4K video at 60fps, when loads of other older devices with a snapdragon 845 have and for using a proprietary memory card. I hope it is not true, but alza have it on their site with no stock at £80 for a 128gb card. 128gb microSD cards cost £20.

This site is run by Apple so they must be like this otherwise they will bury them I believe future updates will allow 4k60p

My only criticism regarding Huawei is that they grew inspiration from Samsung and Apple to try and distribute and sell phones. They didn't come up with their own design at all.

I don't understand how Huawei is the one of only manufacturers left putting the IR blaster in phones. It's such an underrated and useful feature. Other phone manufacturers need to take notice of the tech they implement. Good for Huawei. Maybe they can wake the others up to actually change from year to year rather than these minor updates.

I was expecting at least a 9.5. some of the cons and flaws in this review contradicts what everyone else is saying so I dont have much trust in this review

I don't own the phone yet, but should have it by tomorrow at this time. I did play with the display model at a Huawei store in a mall here in China, and the photos were amazing. I zoomed in and from across the mall the picture was still sharp. My wife was like "WOW!" I'll write a user review of this phone after I've used it for a week or two. And although almost all of my phones have been android, I have no iPhone bias. Actually had the iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone X, but I've just never found iPhone to do as much as android. I'm a user that liked to customize everything though and love widgets. I can't believe this phone isn't even a 9. My only complaint at this time about the Mate 20 is that the Mate 20 X doesn't have all the features of the Pro. I could do without face unlock to have the dew drop camera in the front. And I'd love wireless charging and the water resistance. As far as the Pro, I can't wait to use it as my daily driver. It seems almost exactly the same size as my Samsung Galaxy S8+
