Honor View 10 Review

Huawei's sub-brand Honor is known for its budget-friendly smartphones. After the Honor 7X, the Honor View 10 takes things up a notch with its higher-end specs, and with a price tag of $500, still it is significantly more affordable than those ultra-premium devices priced around $1000. But is it worth picking up? We'll find out!

PROS: + No notch. Anyhow, a great looking phone, marred by a ridiculously ugly UI that's STILL partly inspired by iOS, most notably the "Settings" menu whose snapshot is 'mysteriously' absent in the review, for some reason. Does PhoneArena has a Huawei's 'secret lover' lurking around in its HQ? And call me whatever you fancy but... I don't have much faith in these Chinese Made SoCs. These chips are relatively new and might go belly up after few years of usage. Huawei users often report over-heating and CPU throttling with these Kirin Chips so its best to AVOID them, period. Kudos to Xiaomi for sticking with no notch designs and top-notch (No pun intended) Snapdragon Chips. Might definitely grab a Xiaomi with Snapdragon 845 and an affordable sub $500 price-tag with AndroidOne on board. G'Day!

Mi7 will have a notch.

The heating with the Kirin is down to the mali GPU which is behind Qualcomm and needs higher voltages to match performance. That's getting better every generation and the 970 is really good with 1080p displays. The view 10 does support treble and already has stock roms. I read the Kirin reviews on anandtech btw.

I concur. I don't see why everyone has an issue with it. It's been nothing but useful for me.

This is the kind of less bezel design that I actually want. One that has an FPS on the front without any notches or curved edges.

no notch is awesome. front looks like a Galaxy S5. Is it just me who sees this?

I have never really understood the combination of front FPS and onscreen bottom, it really doesn't make sense

I have it and love it. My only cons: *No support for USB-C to HDMI v_v *No Bluetooth 5 (I do have Bluetooth 5 accessories like a Wireless headphone amplifier, offers better battery life) *No Hi-Res audio playback (thought it does have AptX HD, but even that isn't the same quality as AptX HD on my HTC U11) *Front-facing camera is too aggressive w/ exposure, and there's no way to edit that in default camera or third-party cameras *Colors in video mode come out a bit under exposed, almost like a cinematic video effect, but I kinda of like it *NO EIS or OIS I know that seems like a lot, but I love it otherwise. Great camera, exceptional battery life (got over 6 hours SOT w/ Bluetooth on using it for audio, GPS for hours, screen on 60%, checking text, email, browsing the web, and watching YouTube videos). Performance is super speedy. Design is beauty and definitely premium. EMUI has tons of convenient features. AI is actually very efficient. Love Face unlock, very speedy and efficient.

Not to mention it's running Android 8.1 out of the box.

May I ask which carrier are you using this on? Trying to find out if wifi-calling works on T-Mobile.

So, for a great phone they gave only 8,3 score!? What should it do for a 500$ to get a same score as 1000$ iphone!? I think this is unrealistic....they have 2 clear favourites and no one else can't get a good grade here

Be happy cause at least theh gave a score above 8. The new sony flagship phones had 7.5 and below scores. Don't ask more from a tech site favoring more on a fruity company.

That price for the same processor as Mate 10 pro? (also same with $2000 Mate RS porsche Design) This one is really OP5T killer, or "Flagships Killer" killer..
