HTC One (M8) Review

There’s no denying that HTC is at a cross road at the moment. Rather than scaling back and rushing development, they’ve taken the time out to plan a strategy to emerge victorious this year with its newest flagship phone. The result of all of the work is now being seen in the all new HTC One, or as some of us know of it intimately by its codename, the M8 for short. Of course, the road ahead is unpredictable, but the new HTC One is one short step away in making people believe in the impossible...

8.8 is way too high.

Not waterproof really? Neither is the Galaxy S5 it's only water resistant.

Tested to withstand full submersion up to 3 feet for half an hour. That's pretty resistant.

LOL, 9.5 at the lowest. This is the best android device of the year, easily. HTC just released the ultimate beast phone. Good job HTC. The wifey is ordering us both these phones when AT&T website opens up!

Why do you, and everyone else care what score PA gave the M8 when an average person wont ever read or have idea about phone arena.

IMO This is a pretty bad step from HTC. I can't really find anything except the metal (aluminium), Clean Sense UI (I would say this wouldn't matter much, especially for a Rooter like me xD), build and call (earpiece and speaker) quality that can stand out against other flagships like the Z2, S5, etc. They took a step backward in design (I mean, look at that ugly bezel!), didn't focus on the Camera IQ that was a weak point in the Original One and seems to not improve spec wise. I think the 8.8 John gives was a fair rating TBH. If The last yeat HTC One didn't even bring HTC on the green (yes, they still go in red, or loss), this 'One' will bring less chance to put them in green. Well, I would really wait for the G3, Nexus 6, Nokia 930, iPhone 6 and other most anticipated phones, also hoping that they will be revolutionary :). No fanboyism, just facts... I really like the 2013 One, Kinda sad to see the 2014 Ver. go like this. No offense, Peace.

BTW I Really do think that they've used the same SD 600 chipset or last year flagship SD 800, I'm waiting for confirmation from the reviewers though...

Well apparently it seems like The benchmarks somewhat lied, PA has confirmed that this Phone sports the same SD 801 that came with the Z2 (AB). Apologize for my criticism!

you need to remember most people arent tech nerds. they're trying to make the phone good enough for everday use, not doubling as a super computer.

You also need to remember that the competition is stiff. Well, OK it seems like HTC gone the Apple way for some strange reason...

Well, the photo samples look pretty good, not bad at all. The battery life is also excellent as well. So, now what remains is the price. If this is overpriced like last year's One, I think I'll pass. But anyways, this is a nice phone. Good job HTC, but you can do better.

I think an 8.8 is reasonable. Fanboyism aside, if you look at the big three (HTC, Samsung, Sony) and ask what has changed since the previous model, The Galaxy S5 is the only phone that really brought anything new to the table from its predecessor. The new One is by far the best looking to me but everything else just seemed like an incremental upgrade. Same thing with the Xperia Z2. (better processor, bigger screen, better camera, better sound) I may be a sucker for gimmicks but I like to see new things in my device. The sd card expansion and the new camera features are a great additions nonetheless.

seriously? this feels like you've already prepared something and you just wanted to affirm the content with the release of the product.

Oops, HTC did it again. Again camera that sucks in worst way :( Everything else almost ideal. Even for me (camera is not my main focus when i'm looking for a new phone) M8 quality of pictures is just awful.

Oh my God... I went straigh to the picture page... and almost throw up, ok, not throwing up but I rolled my eyes! HTC... wtf? Didn't you learn anything about custome care? Anyway, I like the gunmetal grey or whatever it is called, but I think HTC One (original one) looked better than M8.

John V is A Hater. He Has Eaten The Forbidden Fruit And Drank The Samsung Kool Aid. It's Obvious Samsung Is A Sponsor On Phonearena That's Why They Plaster The Entire Website With Samsung's News. Even Though Am A Blackberry User Typing With My Beloved Q10 I Will Still Get The M8 Once It's Available Unlocked Online @Full Retail Price.

Your Blackberry must have a glitch when it comes to auto capitalization on every word. Cute phone, bruh.

Design is great, but camera still underperforms. HTC still can't make that UltraPixel thing right.
