HTC Jetstream vs Apple iPad 2

0. phoneArena posted on 20 Sep 2011, 09:26

The HTC Jetstream is flying in to make a name for itself as being AT&T’s very first tablet to feature next-generation 4G LTE connectivity. Indeed that’s a prevalent shining point for the Honeycomb flavored tablet, but when you look at its $849.99 no-contract price, it seems remarkably overpriced versus the comparable $730 32GB 3G-enabled version of the Apple iPad 2. There’s no arguing that they’re going to be the cream of the crop for moment on AT&T’s lineup, but which one should you fork over your hard earned money into?...

Just looking at the cameras... u'll see the generation gap.
(Even if rear cameras are not that needed in tablets)
8 megapixels away...

Well, I´m not an Apple fan. But you also gotta consider the Ipad´s GPU is much better than those on Android counterparts.

The exynos chipset for the phone is a lot better than that tablet chipset.

The jetstream is on a whole different (higher) level when it comes to chipset though.

The Galaxy S II phone can even kick the iPad 2's butt:

That's a phone beating a tablet in webpage rendering speed tests.

I can't fathom why the Jetstream is priced so high. Yes, it's LTE capable and has the highest resolution camera on a currently-popular tablet, but even the aging Xoom and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 are lower priced, and offer similar overall performance, and for a much more approachable price. For this money, I could get multiple lower-end tablets, or a Viewsonic ViewPad Pro (whichever the one is that runs both Windows7 and has the Android emulator) and money left over for a low-end netbook. I hope the price drops like a rock

Just wait for the Ee Pad slider, the sequal to the Transformer, the only android tablet that didn't fail miserably and was priced correctly. All other honeycomb tabs sucked. Save for the Sony tablet S, which is actually decent.

The tablet s is not that descent. The slider is not a sequel and yes, u should wait for better products.
Honeycomb may suck, but Ice Cream Sandwich will be a lot better than that.

Also the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab is way superior to the EEE pad. And it definately didn't fail miserably. Have you even looked at the other Tabs out there?

The Jetstream could be better than the iPad in every category, but it won't help sales. Not because of Apple "fanboys" or anything like that...but because HTC is CRAZY for selling the Jetstream for $850. That's insane for a tablet running an Android OS, I don't care what it does. The only way to be competitive with the iPad is to price it a little lower and offer better hardware specs in some areas. This product will be going the way of the motorola xoom. It might find a niche with scribe technology, but I doubt that this will become a mainstream tablet (at it's current price), carrier subsidy support or not.

Very nice comment...hope some folks over at HTC could hear you...actually Apple is paying a lot to build its image especially through movies. So you are not just buying a tablet..you are buying a fashion item and believe me, although I do not tottaly agree with this, in this world brand image is #1...

When doing a comparison, please compare products with the same OS.

DO NOT take OS A & B and compare it. How on earth are we to know which hardware is better if the software used is different?

Apple vs G.Tab
Apple vs Flyer
Apple vs Playbook
Apple vs Xoom
Apple vs Iconia
Apple vs Transformer

For god's sake do a proper comparison and not 'Win7 Corei7200k vs WinXp Core2Duo' style trash.

All comparisons done on this site treat Apple as the "favorite child". In every comparison that's been done with Apple vs xxxxxxx there is always noticeable favoritism in the writing. When the Apple is better by a bit it's conveyed as being far superior. When the Apple has clearly been edged out of the top spot it's conveyed as a draw and a matter of taste. We can clearly tell what gadgets sit on your nightstand, but for the sake of journalism can you knock it off! It's getting more difficult to give credence to any of your "reviews" when they're so obviously slanted! More fact, less opinion please.

I have always follow this side for along time and it's always bias to American Product. Either Apple or Android!!!!! American like to issue a propaganda and so as Apple. That's why they succeed to sell all their products. They like to make rumors like Apple staff left their Iphone 4 & Iphone 5 under construction in a Bar and bla bla bla so that they can sell more their overprice product. Before Apple enter the Smart market we rarely heard that this smart company sueing other company for surviving of their company. What a coward... strategy. Another web side that is worship Apple is Mobile-Review. where the author worship Steve Jobs as a god. What a bias. Remember Apple you won't be survive forever. Remember the history of the first PC created during the 80s where all your product has been beaten by IBM, However it is time the history return where the other competitors will leave you behind as what happen on the 80s.

If the stupid Pad cannot run smoother as a dumb app launcher, one should just bin it.
Android Honeycomb btw, is a full experience OS. Not just a dumb app launcher with big screen.
Don't be a sheep & get screwed by Steve.

I was planning on buying two HTC Jetstreams but after the announcement of the $850 price point... NO thank you! Not when I can get a Asus Transformer for $390 at some retailers.
