HTC 10 Review

With the 10, HTC must prove to the world that its wares are worth the dough. And theirs have been a tough sale lately, largely because of objective shortcomings that the HTC 'style' of doing things—a style we've always been attracted to—wasn't able to cover for. So the 10 needs to be rock-solid both on the inside and outside, while also doing a splendid job getting us through a busy day of life acrobatics...

Nope, HTC devices are usually a bit slower. Same again this year by the looks of things, some very low scores from the HTC 10.

There's not really a difference in the flagships just stop it. We all know you're biased toward HTC. Did you not see the camera launching was slow as well as taking the pic? I wouldn't put it on a pedestal with that issue. You'd have to put both devices in slow motion to detect much of a speed difference with the interface or the fp sensor.

I agree the difference is usually pretty small, but it's nearly always in Samsung's favour. However look at the benchmark results, something is not right with the performance, either it's a firmware issue or HTC have failed to cool the SoC sufficiently resulting in throttling between runs. Less than half the 3D performance of the Galaxy S7 in the on-screen Manhattan test. I don't understand why PH do these benchmarks and then ignore them when they come to the conclusion. Same goes for the display, it's not very bright and not well calibrated yet completely ignored in the conclusion.

Because a lot of people explained to you that benchmarks are s**t to mislead people.

This phone just doesn't have any appeal... It looks regular and average. The specs are average too (for a flagship). When I see an Edge, an iPhone or a Nexus, I can see the appeal. But this phone has practically nothing going on for itself... It's like yet another 1 Liter 4-Cylinder Superbike. No exoticness and character of a Ducati, or the V4 howl and electronics of an Aprilia, or ridiculous HP of a BMW... Or the uniqueness of an Italian MV Agusta F4... The HTC is basically a SUZUKI... A "ME TOO" sort of brand, to be cruelly honest...

Beautiful to see lot of Android phones are awesome. We have more choice in our Android world. Company's don't have to define what we want, instead we have freedom to choose. Kudos to all OEM's and powerful Android.

I like the HTC 10, but the camera is just way too slow. They still can't seem to get the camera right.

I lol @ how some people in the comment section calling this one of the, if not the best phones this year so far, just because it's not a Samsung device. They are using a mediocre and poorly calibrated display with horrible brightness output to tout what they are calling a "decent" battery endurance machine; the audio quality is a downgrade anyway (albeit, no one really cared about those poorly engineered front facing speakers, that impeded the aesthetics of the device) and it's basically using the same cookie cutter SoC as 90% of the other flagship devices; so it doesn't really propel it anywhere north of any other device. The camera isn't even class-leading either. Aside from certain tech-centric people's passion for HTC, what relevant field does the HTC 10 lead in that makes it a class-leading device? It seems just like another me-too device in a calendar year release cycle.

Strange review, the HTC 10 doesn't lead in any area and has less features but manages the same score as the feature packaged Galaxy S7 which a better display and performance. It's like we've returned back to the M8 days where HTC can do no wrong, turned out great for HTC, dishonest reviews won't help HTC, it didn't back then it won't now.

Generous review, Phonearena are trolling us. Good phone, but same score as the Galaxy S7? I don't think so.

Perhaps you have to use the phone in real life to really feel that it is good?

One major thing about this phone is the ugly back. Or else 9.3 for the score.

So strange... Average display (unbalanced colors), camera cannot match G5, S7 or P9, average battery life (almost as same as P9), average loudspeaker, worse fingerprint than P9 (Finally, while you can't lock files and photos behind it, the sensor wakes up the screen automatically when you touch it, allowing for very fast access to your phone.) and much more expensive compared to P9 and still gets 9 compared to P9's 7.5 :O

U r right!! They give ratings based on the popularity (remember the voting, thats the major input for ratings) not on the performance... Its an avg phone but gets 9... I will stick with GSM arena reviews.

I thought about it and then remembered it's HTC, they rip us off in Europe so not worth it at all.

Personally I would put this between the G5 and S7. Sure the software might be smoother, but it really doesnt do anything that stands out. The G5 tried something new and unique although I think it could be better and was not executed properly and it was rather clunky as far as the hardware goes. Which is why I would give it a slight lower score than the HTC 10. The S7 is a beast with water resistance, a VERY nice high end looking design the hardware is just solid, the software is filled with features I would sacrifice the slight performance issues with touchwiz. "Its really minimal". Which is why I would score it higher than the HTC 10. The HTC 10 has a boring yet solid design. It doesn't really have anything that stands out or any software that really would make anyone pick the HTC 10 over the competition. It does everything right, but it doesn't have that ONE thing that would make me say WOW I want to buy this phone over even a Nexus 6P. I would even pick a Moto X Pure over this. Simply because that does everything "just right" like the HTC 10 at a fraction of the cost. I would just simply find an alternative without flagship pricing because it's just boring... That's my opinion. I don't see HTC doing anything great with this phone. I think the average non biased consumer will agree with me once sales drop.

I totally agree except the Samsung software part. It's actually REALLY speedy with no lag so I'm not sure what tpuchwiz performance issues you're talking about.
