Asus Zenfone 2 Laser Review

The Zenfone 2 line has expanded to several variants since its inception, and for those who didn’t think its camera was fast enough, the Zenfone 2 Laser solves that by being fashioned with laser auto-focus tech. While it seems that the phone is otherwise unchanged, it’s still finding itself in that attractive mid-ranger space with its sub $200 outright cost...

That's brutal, but 200 dollars is 200 dollars right?

The thing i don't like about Asus phone is that their phone come loaded with bloatware. Yes! They can be worse than Samsung. If Asus ever choose to goes stock with regular update especially at their present selling price it will be a great buy at least for me.

I dont like how thick the phone is, minimum brightnes is also very high, bloatware is no problem if you can remove them (root). meizu m2 note is way better and cheaper..

I have my fun with root now i tend to be less willing to root my phone because i like the assurance that non-root device offer. Most modern days app check for root and wants to enable their "enhance ability" which basically mean take control of my rooted phone. I have to block 99% of them. Quite a hassle, root still has a place in many geek's heart so pros and cons.

want to hear something funny? Alcatel OneTouch IDOL 3 (5.5") have similar spec, priced at $300 and get 8.5 even more funny? Moto G 2015 use 720p screen, SD410 and get 9/10, lol

because the score is nothing but subjective...they have no point system at all that would justify WHY they gave it what it did. If they were to do say, 10 points for each check, then put a ratio in place for practicality, like calls being more than design camera being more than weight of device things like that. Then run the numbers and spit out a score. Here its...oh look pretty phone lets give it a 8.5, despite shaky video, call quality sucking and oh did we mention we like its shiny outside...

The Phone Isn't That Great And Deserves The Rating It Got But I Guess You Really Can't Ask For Much Better At $200 Huh.

As far as PA John V is concern it will get 6 even if its priced at $10. Fortunately for Asus their core customers come from China, Taiwan and South East Asian and having a 2GB, 5.5inch FHD, 4G phone at $200 is still a good deal.

It's not a great device, so the rating is somewhat justifiable. I could get my self a much superior and brand new G2 for the price..

Really? For that price you'll get top-tier Zenfone 2, which is better than that.

The Zenfone 2 Laser is better and cheaper than the Moto G and slightly better than the Idol 3 but cheaper.

Stop complaining. This device is clearly INFERIOR to the Alcatel Idol 3! That very much deserves an 8.5 from PhoneArena, and it only costs 250USD. ASUS innovated with absolutely NOTHING with this phone, it's absolutely derivative, and for 200 USD, that's still no excuse. Alcatel innovated with the Idol 3, why didn't ASUS?

The Idol 3 is only superior to the Zenfone 2 laser in loudspeaker quality, not to mention the Idol 3's design looks more generic.

Also the Zenfone 2 Laser is cheaper.

But it runs essentially stock Android, so it's faster and smoother. And screw the "generic" design, the Idol is easier to hold unlike this brick!

You can't debate Android skins and actually this Zenfone is easy to hold as well because of curved back.
