Apple iPhone 6 Plus Review

Flaunting a 5.5-inch display, the iPhone 6 Plus from the outside looks like its 4.7-inch sibling, but it’s packing its own exclusive set of arsenal to set it apart. Taking into consideration that phablets are meant to be bridge devices between the smartphone and tablet, we’re curious to know exactly how the iPhone 6 Plus can deliver in that regard – more so knowing what its rivals have accomplished already. The word “plus” after anything sounds mighty intriguing, so let’s hope there’s a lot of that in this!

You gotta read why I said a little better. I didn't say I just don't care if nobody reads my post. If I didn't care I wouldn't post it. What I was referring to was if you don't like how it's typed out then just don't read it. You can't cater to everybodies preferences when making a comment

Grammar? My comment had nothing to do with grammar, it was about making what you write legible. Your grammar is fine, but a lump of text that dense is much more difficult to read than it would be if broken up into paragraphs, which puts people off even bothering to read it in the first place.

I just cannot agree with you on the spec aspect. If this industry is any indication of taking advantage of consumers, it would be the idea to offer as less as possible yet charge far more. As technology is constantly changing at a ralid pace, specs are absolutely important in ensuring a balance between the tech issued and the product to adapt. As it stands, Apple users have always had to wait for the lastest while Android users can allocate the technology much quicker. The point is if you don't need it, you don't use it, if you want it or need it, it's there for the taking. Android has been able to provide this universal aspect into its ecosystem. This is why its choice offerings are for more preferred by consumers over Apple. I was an Apple user for 12 years. While the ecosystem is a bit more stable, the offeset in Android has progressed and evolved at an absolute astonishing rate. In short, I have not missed Apple's products at all. I have been able to carry on my professional and personal duties just as efficiently at a much less expensive measure. John B.

Not all features or comfort in BMW or BENZ is used by owner , but premium pricing demands it being there or it wouldn't be better than an ordinary basic car. A phone is supposed to be priced on benefits for the user

The new iPhone 6 Plus is a great device. But generally, Samsung GALAXY Note still retains its crown as the king of phablets for this simple reason: only the GALAXY Note takes full optimum advantage of the big screen estate with its advanced best-in-class multi-tasking suite of Multi-window and S Pen functionalities. All other brands of the phablet genre, now iPhone 6 Plus inclusive, only make big screen rivals without fully utilizing the estate beyond gaming, media viewing, e-book reading and web browsing which are standard features of normal phones. So, cutting-edge specs apart, the Samsung GALAXY Note still holds its phablet crown because it is not big for nothing; it's big for a useful reason!

+1 from me sir. That is a good post with unbiased words. I agree with you as I've noticed that as well, if you are to make a big phone do so for a reason other than media consumption alone.

"Apple’s iPhones have always been known to take spectacular photos" (page 1, design section) All credibility was lost here. Recent iphonies take decent photos, but hardly spectacular. Early iphonies used mediocre cameras at best, something this site has pointed out itself. Fail.

Fair score. There should have been more features this time around, but Apple will add them in time. I have one and I will say that I am glad that Samsung did release the Note; it gave Apple the push that it needed to change their ways and give customers what they wanted.

---"I am glad that Samsung did release the Note; it gave Apple the push that it needed to change their ways and give customers what they wanted."--- As a past supporter for many years, this was always my bone of contention with Apple. When you pay a premium price for a product, why should people have to wait or instill a little momentum towards their company of choice to give them what they want? It should automatically be a prerequisite. No questions asked. It really irks me when people make excuses for Apple because they don't have a problem with them. Yet, when you view the scope of the landscape, it is amazing how Apple gets away with offering less and charging more just because people shelling out the dough. If BMW, Mecedes, Bentley etc, tried to sell their cars with no power windows, AC, leather seats etc, wouldn't you feel a bit scammed when everyone else has the goods for far less? John B.

Lol at the fandroids crying because the iphone gets a high rating. "PA is scared Apple will sue em for a low rating" Waaaa "But the Note 3 is soooo much better" Waaaa "but but but 1gb of RAM, how can it get a 9" Waaaa. Hilarious to read really..

BMW, Mercedes get higher ratings too but they also offer up more for the money. Apple has historically for 30 years, offered the least it can at a far more expensive price. While its software is optimized to do more with less, the point is that it doesn't offer more than the competition in the price range it is priced at. I expected very high marks for these new Apple offerings. But, in my opinion, to brandish a 9 rating is more for comparison vs its past products. The new products coming out in the next month or so will leapfrog these offerings. John B.

I just can't get with it. I was talking with a buddy of mine that I went to college with about how he like his 6+. He was asking me when I was going to make the jump to the iPhone since I have a 13" MBP w/ retina, an iMac, a Mac Mini & Apple TV's in my house. I was telling him that if I were to get an iPhone, it would just be something that I got as another collectors device (and an Apple TV remote) since I collect pretty much everything tech and that I would get just the 6, not the 6+. The 6+ offers nothing different from the 6 to justify having a larger screen besides 1080p and OIS. There's no extra multi-tasking functionality, split-screen/multi-window or some other spectacular feature that justifies getting the 6+ over the 6. The only thing that I like about it is the 240fps feature on the camera. Everything about these two iPhones release was very underwhelming outside of them finally having larger screens and NFC so that mobile NFC payment apps will FINALLY start taking off because Apple released a mobile payment system. Outside of that, there's nothing enticing enough for me to make a switch or even have one to collect. I'll be picking up the Note 4 on release and in 6 months when I'm ready for another Jump! I'll see what other Android OEM has to offer. Hopefully HTC can improve that damn ultrapixel camera on the next One and put a decent sized MP sensor in there. I just don't see the justification for the same "9" score as the 6 when really all it is is a larger scale 6 with nothing to make it special for being bigger. I think that they both could've been better, but especially the 6+. Maybe they'll improve on features specific to it in the future.

No matter how bad it is, an iPhone will always get a 9+ rating...

So many cons and still a 9 rating? Come on, PA...

83. 21babydoll12 unregistered

So here we have it. I was waiting to see if PA would denounce the larger then life footprint of the phone. Instead it's accepted and glorified. Hypocrits! When android phone with 5" screen is reviewed it's always about how complicated it is to hold a phablets and large bezels. But this review seems so bias. The review was more promotion of the product. I'm at the point now where PA has gotten too full of themselves and lack honest pure journalist judgment. A sponsor can pay the sites bankroll but consumer make the foundation of the site.

Not sure I see the point of the debate. The reviewer is clearly biased, I have handled the Plus and it was a complete turn off. For the fanboys, I have owned every iteration of the iPhone from the original through iP5 at which point I felt it was time for change, permanently. Tempted to add the Plus to go alongside my G3 so ordered it, played with one in Carphonewarehouse, came home and immediately cancelled my order. Opting for a Z3 instead which, by the way, a retarded PA reviewer gave an 8.5. Illogical as I remember the Z2 scoring something like 9.2 and the Z3 basically improves on the failings such as might be perceived, of the Z2!

think of it like this, when apple releases their 6s and 6s plus. you will find words like "premium, smooth, thin, fast, and superior" tagged with the review. it will also be scored high because its ridiculously ground breaking. the minor improvements makes apple's refresh elite. corporate sponsorships can dictate a journalists/bloggers direction. just like what the pro NFL is going through.

People are saying that it lags quite a bit at this resolution. Lol the good thing about the 6plus is that Apple fans can't hide behind a lowly 750p screen anymore now that the iphone 6 throttles the 6 plus in benchmarks they can't pretend the low res iPhone 6 is superior to high end Android phones anymore unless they cede that the 6 plus is also inferior.

A pretty pointless 5.5 inch screen if you are unable to keep up with Android devices that allow you to work with two apps at the same time and also allow you to watch video while working all on one device. I do agree the 5.5 inch screens are awesome for watching movies but many would argue now a days we use our one device for everything. Entertainment + Productivity = PERFECT DEVICE

Ok so I played with both of these phones unfortunately most of my friends have IPhones. For one the phone doesn't feel sturdy it's too light and feels like a toy compared to my One M8 and those horrible awful looking bands on the back are so ugly the One m8 bands look way better and the phone is better looking than the new IPhones. The displays are nice but the IPhone 6 is ehh you can definitely tell when watching a video. Iphone 6 plus is just too big and they didn't do enough with the bigger screen, nothing is innovative about this phone. It's just there are so many loyal Apple customers specs don't matter because they'll buy any new iPhone. The Galaxy Note 4 is way ahead of the 6 plus in mostly everything and most importantly it's innovative . I've only owned HTC since 2008 I be had 8 phones and tnt I'm selling my HTC One M8 so I can get the Note 4. Yes sense is way better than touchwiz and I like the widgets they offer but I love taking photos and the m8 have a horrible camera. Only thing I'll miss are those fantastic speakers. Anyways I'd give the IPhone 6 an 8 and the 6 plus an 8.5

Revise rating please, Phone bends in your pocket.

Here's another con: it bloody bends, this phone bends in your front pocket, not even your back pocket, the front one where it's supossed to be "safe". People blamed it on the aluminum but the HTC One Max used aluminum as well and it never bent. This is just awful
