Apple iPad mini vs Google Nexus 7

0. phoneArena posted on 09 Nov 2012, 06:25

Finally venturing off into a new size category, Apple now has a direct competitor to the renowned Google Nexus 7, which was recently updated slightly with more memory. Although it’s quite obvious that one is indeed smaller than the other, there’s no questioning that many consumers are going to keep the two into consideration when shopping around for compact sized tablets...

The fandroids will cry if they see benchmarks between these two. Dual core beating quadcore. Haha....the android r&d ducks they didn't even make use of hardware. Sorry they couldn't. And for god sake how do you people play games that are meant for vga resolution phones. Oh wait! Money?!! It all matters for you people. Oh yeah, nexus 7 is in ur budget people. Enjoy the cheapness !! I'd rather enjoy a halfpound KFC chicken than a pound of raw chicken. Simple as that!

Your comment makes no sense. But KFC does sound good. How much KFC can you get with $130?

Ipad price is just criminal and now the retina rip off is being spoken. Just think the upgrade will constitue of retina displaying mini and ppl will buy by the droves ! Giving the name itself is sneaky . Foolish I buyers but Apple machines are good enough on their own though .

Come on guys as an android user i don't think that PA hasn't admited something. N7 owns it, but some people like bigger displayes, and capturing photos with their tablets, so it depends on the case .

This is the answer to all Apple reviews!

" love this thing. It's just like my iPhone5, but I can't talk on the phone with it. It's a little bigger than my iPhone5, too. And it's just like my iPad3, but it's smaller, and of course I can't use my iPad3 to talk on the phone either. It's also JUST like my new iPod touch, which I can't talk on either, the the iPod is a little smaller, too. This is just so great, it's a little bigger, but the same as my phone and my iPod, and a little smaller, but the exact same as my iPad3. What's not great about Apple? Nothing, everything they do is so amazing that I just have to go into debt buying anything they offer, waiting in line is one of my favorite things to do for Apple products because all the cool people do it.
I love my Apples... I just love them."

If this discussion were just about price then The Nexus 7 would be the clear winner, however it is not, and I think a better comparison would be against the older Galaxy Tab 7.7 which comes standard with GPS, HSPA+, a larger 7.7" 1280 x 800 Widescreen HD Super AMOLED Plus display. It has a microSD card slot and currently runs Android OS Ice Cream Sandwich. It is available for around $470 on Amazon.com which is about the same price as the iPad Mini 4G. In my opinion it's a better alternative than the iPad mini because of expandable storage, a better screen and an alternative, more customizable OS. It has a similar form factor to the iPad Mini and I think buyers should strongly consider this device against the iPad Mini, now that the price has come down quite a lot since its debut, but its specs are still great.

No rear camera is a slight bummer. Yes, I'm fully aware that "no one should rely on tablets to take photos" but the bottom line is it's nice to have the option. Especially since I'm buying it for my wife, who undoubtedly would put that camera to use (we have twin 19 month-old boys). Seems like a waste to omit such a basic but convenient feature.

That one gripe aside, the Nexus 7 is still the clear winner. From the perfect size, to the display, customization and of course the price. It'll be the wife's birthday present but after a month or so I think we'll be fighting over it....while my Asus Transformer continues to collect dust.

The Nexus 7 has stereo speakers, they just share the speaker strip.

I love the the Nexus 7.it features a sharp screen,a comfortable design, and great battery life at a low starting price.Android 4.2 adds some welcome and useful features.but android still needs more tablet optimized apps, newer games have frame rate issues, and HSPA speeds seem particularly location-dependent.With its excellent design, useful software features and low starting price, the Nexus 7 is the cheapest way to experience the best that the Android OS has to offer.i think Nexus 7 is still the best small tablet you can buy.no doubt its super cool and hope it's success will go on :)
