Only One Complaint...

MelissaT (unregistered) 29 Nov 2010, 16:25 posted on

I bought the Cosmos Touch 4 days ago, and I have to say, I really like it so far! It's a big step up from the EnV2 that I replaced! To answer a previous poster's question, YES, it is a touch screen, but it also has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, so it's like having the best of both worlds. My only complaint is that the screen is VERY delicate. My (very short) fingernails are enough to put some massive scratches in the screen. The first time I turned it on, my nail put a huge scratch all the way across the bottom of the screen. It's disappointing that a 4-day-old phone already looks like it's been used and abused for 6 months. Other than that, it's pretty nice.

I agree i put a screen protector over the main screen. The only thing i hate is the dang battery. it doesnt last very long maybe a day and a half total. but other than that, its fairly decent. A whole lot better than the enV3.

does anybody have any problems with the phone shutting off after sending a text message with the qwerty keyboard and then closing it? my daughters shuts off 4 out of 5 times when she does this----second phone we exchanged the first thinking it was a bad phone.

Yes, I had the same problem with it shutting off when the slide4r is closed and the text not being sent. Took it to Verizon and they replaced it for free.

We had this same problem. Switched out & tried 2 other cosmos touch phones last night at Verizon Wireless & had the same problem. Apparently LG is having many complaints about this issue, but no way to fix it yet.

when you buy the phone, it has a plastic sheet that goes over the screen. If you're lucky, you didn't take it off. When I got the phone, i didn't notice it was there for several days and thought that the screen had gotten scratched.

so are you suggestion to remove the plastic cover or keep it on the screen. Also has anyone had trouble charging the phone?

I just got the cosmos touch and it didn't come with the battery in the phone so i have to put it in, but i can't figure out how to take the dang back off so i can put the battery in. How can i take it off without breaking the phone?

To take the back off of the phone, you push it very firmly and slide it off. I love love love this phone. No data package required! Ease of use and solid. I left the screen protector on and I have not had any scratches. The phone stays charged for about a day and a half and that's fine if you plug it in at night to charge. To the poster who has had problems with two phones shutting down after texts, I have not had any problems and I text daily.

So ok Im thinking I want to buy this phone, I love the way it looks, also love the fact that its a touch screen and has a slider keyboard. I know that many ppl dont like the short battery life but I can live with that since I charge my current phone every night. Anyway other than the screen being a bit touchy and small, is there anything else that I should be concerned with? I want this phone bad but I dont want to get excited about a possible bad phone. How is the camera? I enjoy using my phone as my personal camera, lots easier then carrying a camera and phone at the same time so a good camera is kind of important. I would like to anyones thoughts on the camera and phone as a whole. thanks much! :)

so, by what ive heard, its not a very good phone, BUT i have recently been in the verizon store and i have used this phone for at least 20 minutes at the most. it is not delicate, you do have to be careful when you drop it though, it might turn off. I never have dropped it but i do have the enV2 and when i drop that, it is very fragile. the Cosmos Touch is a HUGE step up! I love it, I've fiqured everything out on it, and I've NEVER put a mark or scratch on it. I don't even have the phone yet and its marvolous!! I'm getting it in two days and I'm waiting, and waiting, and waiting for it! SO EXCITED!! Anyways, it is a very good phone but if anything goes wrong for whatever reason, make sure you have ensurance on it so you can replace it with another one. At least you'll have another, new, shiny one until your next upgrade.

ive got faily long nails. i have not scratched the screen once. I had a couple issues with the phone shutting off after texts. but it was only while i was texting 4 or so people at once. I changed the settings so it would not open the text automatically and scroll down automatically and i had no issues with it then. The only complaint i have is that it will delete all of the messages i sent out of the inbox randomly. Then it only shows the messages i recieved per person.

Very unhappy with this phone. Battery life is like six hours -- providing you don't use it for anything! Also locks and unlocks itself while in my pocket or dedicated pocket in my purse!

Also the only phone left is a pre-used one. but it is certified. So should I trust it has anyone had a pre-used certified one before?? Please help:)

it is a very good phone for texting! but sometimes is restarts and doesnt show the text anywhere, so you have to redo it! other than that, it is a great idea!

The crux is not a bad texting phone if u like touch screens. Theyre made heat sensitive and very responsive. Just like a physical qwerty keyboard it takes a few days to really get used to the placement and spacing of the keyboard. After that it's a breeze. The certified like new are used phones but they have been refurbished to be like new. Camera is a 3 mgpxl, which is good for a feature phone. The mgpxls really only matter if ur blowing up a picture. If u plan to keep it between ur phone or facebook it'll be great.

I like a lot of these reviews, but my main concern is, is the touch screen a pressure pad touch screen or is it heat sensitive? That is my only concern, other than that, these reviews seem very convincing.

Overall I've really enjoyed this phone. However, I had to return the first one for a problem and I'm fearing I may have the same issue again. For one, my phone also restarts itself periodically after sending a text. The bigger issue that caused me to replace it, however, was more of a key feature. When talking on the phone, if you pull it away from your face the screen lights up so you can see the number pad and do other features while on the phone. My first phone stopped doing that, so the screen stayed black while holding it away. I was within 30 days of getting the phone so I swapped it no problem, but now it's happening again.

I have not seen anyone else having this particular issue, but it's happened to me 2x in a row now. Any suggestions/comments?
