That's not why they joined Spotify. They did so because they failed at their own attempt to bring a music platform. So now they are using Spotify which is very big and well known and they are hopefully gonna integrate it into all Samsung phones. 3 months of free Spotify to Note 9 users would be great, considering what it costs. I like Spotify, I just don't like paying for it, because i don't use it enough to justify the cost. It's so funny, that when Microsoft had a music subscription service; everyone thought it was a terrible concept for music stream. A decade later and streaming music is a huge billion dollar business.

Spotify is famous worldwide while other streaming service such as Apple Music is ONLY popular in the US. You wouldn't see anyone using other music streaming service aside from Spotify here in Asia. Again, PhoneArena nailed this article. This is a win-win for Samsung and Spotify.

"[Spotify].... has been lagging behind Apple Music of late as far as growth rates are concerned, especially stateside, also struggling to turn a profit" Meanwhile, the facts in their latest financial report say: 40% growth for paid users, revenues up 26% YoY, profits up a whopping 42% and gross margin a more than very healthy 26%. It's the operating loss that is cause for concern.

Exactly. Apple Music will always play catch up to Spotify. Apple Music is non-existent outside the US. Here in Asia, nobody bothers to use Apple music even my friends who use iPhones!

Hmm i might switch to Spotify from Google Play Music but I’m so stuck in my ways and YouTube red is so nice. Planning on leaving the Apple ecosystem.
