iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S III drop test is not for faint-hearted geeks

0. phoneArena posted on 21 Sep 2012, 09:38

One thing that we don't really enjoy watching is pricey gadgets being tortured, but if that's the only way to test the durability of a high-end smartphone, then count us in. Today's contenders are the iPhone 5, which is now available for purchase in several countries, and the Samsung Galaxy S III, which is currently among the hottest Android smartphones in existence...

This obviously has nothing to do with the build quality but simply the way the phone is designed.

The moment I saw iPhone 5 I knew it will be much more resistant to drops than previous ones, because of the way that the frame is aligned onto the screen - Ip4 screen glass was simply very exposed at a certain angle of impact.

Similar thing is with the GS 3 - the all-glass front means that the edge of screen will directly come in contact with the surface during the side impact.

With a protective case, S3 is just fine

A good case with impact resistant rubbers/plastics on the corners helps quite a bit.
Thats why I laugh at peeps that buy 600 devices and then squirm over a $20 case to protect it. lol.

These idiots needs to DROP OR THROW THE PHONES hard on the ground to see how it can withstand a fall.

Such a darn waste...
Why don't you hold a contest and give the phones as prize as it is...i don't care which one breaks and which one cannot. Even if they don't break at first fall, the second or the third fall will break them.

second drop test i have seen where samsung lost to iphone. samsung phones like most of their products are made not to last very long because they know most people will replace their phone anyway after 1 to 2 years of use.

I own the GS3, but use my Razor Maxx most often. Hate my daughter's I-phone 4s (had to get a signal extender, so she could talk or text in the house).
Basically, user interface, battery life and features are much more important to me than indestructible build. My GS3, has a Trident Case, I do not have a case on the Razor Maxx because i am more scared that, that phone will break a toe if i drop it on my foot.

I've had over 30 phones and only one screen ever shattered... and that was because I threw it on the ground.... I fail to see the importance of this video. Buy a damn case

I find it amusing that every android hugger I know and see is always bashing or paying/giving attention to Apple and iPhone. If your OS, software, hardware and everything else is supposedly always better, why waste your time lol. My father used to say "Anyone who makes fun of something if most likely jealous." Like I said, amusing. (Btw, I own an S2)

yeah i love how people like you always say its android fans against ifans yet never acknowledge how the ifans do the same and most of the time are petty and immature in there comments

and you saying you have an s2 means nothing. i have an 808 what does that add .....nothing exactly
