Fitbit Charge 3 wearable starts shipping this week, Special Edition coming next month
Fitbit is officially a smartwatch vendor to be reckoned with, but make no mistake, the activity tracker pioneer remains as focused as always on the low-cost wearable device market. The Versa may have proven significantly more popular than the Ionic, but Charge 3 pre-orders are vaguely described as “even better” after around six weeks.
The time has finally come for the company’s latest installment in the wildly successful Charge franchise to start shipping to early adopters. Global “retail partner stores” will kick off actual sales of the Fitbit Charge 3 this Sunday, October 7, with Amazon, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target, Verizon, and Walmart all part of the gadget’s roster of authorized US sellers.
You’ll obviously also be able to purchase Fitbit’s “smartest tracker yet” directly from the manufacturer, and the price is set at a reasonable $149.95 nationwide for “standard” versions in black with a graphite aluminum case and blue gray with a rose gold aluminum case.
A swanky berry/rose gold model is listed at Best Buy as shipping from October 21, while Fitbit Charge 3 Special Editions in white/graphite and lavender/rose gold with NFC support for wrist payments are currently scheduled for November rollouts.
Across the board, you’re looking at an almost surprisingly stylish, lightweight, and swim-proof fitness band with a relatively sharp touchscreen in tow, PurePulse heart rate tracking functionality, and “relative SpO2 sensor” promising enhanced insight into your physical activity, sleep quality, and overall health status.
