ZTE has filed trademarks for two upcoming Axon devices. The Chinese company’s original Axon 7 launched nearly two years ago, although a sequel failed to appear the following year. Now, however, thanks to a new trademark filing, ZTE appears to have plans for two new follow up devices, dubbed the “Axon 9” and “Axon 9 Pro.”
The trademarks were filed with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), suggesting ZTE’s next Axon devices could receive an early Russian release, yet they will likely reach a number of other markets, including the majority of Europe, and the US and Canada. In regards to what the devices will bring, both are set to debut with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 on the inside, while a dual camera setup on the rear is rumored to be included alongside two selfie sensors up front. In addition, storage variants ranging from 64GB to 256GB are expected to be available, while, on a software note, stock Android 8.1 Oreo is set to ship straight out of the box. Currently, however, there is not much information in regards to what specs will differentiate the devices, but it’s worth noting that the regular Axon 9 is expected to compete directly with the upcoming OnePlus 6.
Besides the Axon 9 trademarks, also listed in the filing were references to a number of new mid and low-end devices belonging to the company’s Blade series. Specifically, the company has trademarked the name Blade A531, alongside the Blade A7 and A7 VITA. Furthermore, the Blade A3 that was launched towards the end of last year was also listed in the trademark post, indicating that the smartphone could soon reach EAEU markets.

ZTE is yet to make any official statement in regards to the Axon 9 lineup or any of the other devices mentioned. But with the company already filling for trademarks, an announcement of the next Axon series may not be too far away. After all, the original Axon 7 saw a May announcement, so perhaps its Axon 9 successor will follow suit.
