It will just be a more expensive copy of an already existing Android device.

Ask the people who buy it if they give a damn. Pretty sure their answer will be "". Or they may just ignore you, kinda like the rest of the world does.

I'm not surprised it's 1000$. The kind of innovation they being too the table every year and make their competitors fall in shame time And again it was high time the customers started paying the right price for the advanced and premium tech.

I had difficulty justifying $650 for a 128GB Nexus 6P, which I consider premium, though certainly aged. I simply cannot justify spending an additional $350 for a device that makes calls and runs apps. I'm not criticizing people who intend to buy it, and this is not criticizing the Apple brand, I also wouldn't spend that kind of money on an Android phone either... I find it simply ridiculous.

Thank you Scott for always being reasonable in your assessments. I'm odd enough that as long as the asking price isn't absurd (looking at you Huawei) I'm down for the campaign. Helps I don't really have many obligations and such outside of work and the GF. I understand why some people see that and say "Nope" but I'm an enthusiast (whatever the hell that entails) so if it lives up to expectations, I give it a look. know..... Apple's upgrade program makes it even easier to do so for me. I totally respect anyone who'd walk away from this because, honestly, it's mind boggling how expensive phones have gotten over the past decade. Back in the day you could get a Razor for $150 bucks....Now I'm paying that just to get the damn things activated!

Well, people critical of the price (myself included) have to remind themselves that the suggested $1,000 price point is expected for the top most model for the iPhone 8, and that the base may fall in line with or be slightly above what most other OEMs are charging for their premium base model phones. The Pixel base model cost $650 and you can bet your ass I was critical of that just as I am with Apple. But the phones are selling at that price, demand is high so I can't say it was a poor business choice for either company, it's just a little out of my reach... lol, I suppose that's why I keep entering myself in online contests to try and win one. :P

Pixel success is an example of what people are willing to do to have a fluid, timely updated, functional, overall great device. Including the willingness to pay top dollars.

And if you're an enthusiast about the iPhone then more power to you, people should be enthusiastic about stupid things, it makes them interesting. Hell, you've seen a hell of a lot less of me on this site because I also happen to be a major Legend of Zelda nerd and they have a new game coming out in three weeks so I've been busy obsessing about that for a while. When more news breaks regarding the Pixel 2, I imagine you'll see more of me, but untill then I'll just drop in on occasion to see who's trolling who...

The tech in it will not warrant such a price tag... Amoled panels have dropped in price, and storage doesn't cost that much.

The thing that sucks for Apple fans is that there is no other choice but to pay whatever they charge for the latest model. They could charge 3 grand , and people would pay it.

Basically. But even Apple isn't that crazy. I love iOS and all, but f**k no to 3k! My first car wasn't even 3k.

Have you seen their MacBook pricing? They are that crazy. I believe their best MacBook goes for $5000.

I've never even thought about getting one of those. Pricing has a lot to do with it, and the fact I just prefer Windows on that big of a screen. Seriously though, 5k? Hell no.....

I know I'm getting one, if these rumors pan out. This phone is intriguing as f**k, and it's really grabbing my interest. I think this is gonna be the phone to beat. As good as the Note 8 will be, it'll be a wait and see device early on. Due to the Note 7, the 8 will have slow initial sales, then gain traction as positive word of mouth spreads. Apple is gonna kill it with this anniversary model me thinks.

I hope the iPhone sells, I have stock that's counting on it!

Me too!! I need to get over that 1 mil mark for myself.:)

I can guarantee the Note 8 will be awesome. After the N7 debacle, I think Samsung is going to go all out on it. I have a feeling they're going to throw everything including the kitchen sink. As much as I'm tempted to get the S8 plus....Note 8 will be the true beast.

"Note 7, the 8 will have slow initial sales, then gain traction as positive word of mouth spreads" I do agree here. I think the first 2 to 3 weeks will be slow. I am one that has never bought any phone the first month. I wait for reviews to see what phone suits me the best. When I decided to get a new phone it took me a month of going back and forth to Best Buy playing with my choices before I made up my mind to go with the note 5.

Wait and see what they bring out. PA just keeps posting this info early which may not be true. I won't be a early adapter given how many problems the flagships had this year.

It's not just iPhone get the price up, so does Samsung. It's just come to the point that " which one should I buy this time". It's doesn't mean anything for those who are getting iPhone or Galaxy S or Note to show who's smarter( some said freedom) and who's stupider( restriction or whatever). Do any of you recall " Jailbroke" or "rooted". Smart buyers only get a phone with a great deal, smart users only a get a phone to serve for what they're needed. Anyway, nowadays, everything are getting more and more expensive.

As much as I like Android, I just recently switch to iPhone and found that iOS is more compact and smooth, with less bulls**t and less loose ends. It's good that IOS has locked away a lot of features that android doesn't . For most of these features are for very very advanced users anyway. Generally, most of the users just need the phone.and some basic controls, Making those complex features available just makes more troubles for the users and the vendors. So for this point iPhone wins over Android. 2nd point is I heard most iPhone users haven't experienced the battery drain issue even after few years of usage while most Android phones suffer some miserable battery drain after 2 years of usage.

2 5s I know so far to have worse battery than when they were new; nothing to worry about, but it's there (one of them has well over 1000 cycles, which is almost 3 times the lifespan of a battery). I'm just saying that Apple's devices are not immune to laws of physics.

And that's why apple keeps making money, the sales are dropping every year but they increase the prices. That is just cheating and ripping off ifans. Even if the new iphone was priced at 2000$ ifans would buy it.......come on people open your eyes! And do not dare to call the iPhone highend! Just midrangers with highend prices!
