Windows Phone Store rings up 9 million transactions a day

0. phoneArena posted on 14 Sep 2013, 13:59

While the Apple App Store and Google Play Store (still prefer the Android Market moniker) battle it out to see which one stocks the most apps, the Windows Phone Store is coming up behind the pair, just like the Android Market did to the App Store in the good old days; Microsoft says that during the holiday season (which it says is November and December) downloads and app purchases increase by 50%...

All the Android fans and users are smart, techy and geeks who needs to be smart and clever to operate and understand that full mobile mini platform, while Wp is for kids and illiterate old age pensioner and for average joes.

Android aka Linux is for smart clever users not for dumb users....

android has become so over rated just like ios was at a stage and still sort of is sailfish is da one4me

and microsoft are trying hard they're being less thick headed and allowing some more stuff in to gain traction that would prove either desperation or they're finally thinking outside the box

I'm a grown up who has owned over 20 different Android mid to high end phones + 1 iphone 4s and changed to WP because I actually liked the experience and usefulness, and actually payed $99 for a Nokia 920 1 month after launch date, I guess I'm out of those "most people" :P

Android is the better choice for me. I don't upgrade my phones so often, so I don't want to be stuck on WP8 when everyone else is on 10.

That seems silly. Most android phones are at least one upgrade behind. My og note is a testament to that.

On the contrary. I would argue that kids are more likely to be peer pressured into going with what's popular because they generally lack the critical thinking skills of adults. Android and iOS are the popular ones right now, so that's what kids are likely to want.

I would say that most adults lack critical thinking skills and just pick what popular. In general people even adults are followers. Most of the people on here "screaming" that one OS is better than the other have never used the OS they bash. Instead they just repeat things they've read in reviews or assume. Think about what you want to do with the phone any buy what's best for you.

like I said before a smartphone is for smart people
android is for smart people who can't stop playing with there smartphone all they brag about is
customization and games that's a toy.
yet like myself and many others who has an android smartphone we don't even customize it.

I will give my android Samsung galaxy3 TOY to my wife.

Well, you know what?
9 million per day is really a rather low number.
Pathetic, compared to 500+ M that Android pulls in

You seem to be forgetting that Microsoft makes money from Android as well. They get royalties paid to them from Samsung, HTC, Sony, and the rest of the Android OEM's, and Nokia does too. In other words, even if WP8 gains only limited traction, Microsoft will still be earning billions...

Eat that :oP

Guys just buy a windows phone. Its a real smartphone not only a toy. Less consuming battery and much better in memory optimization. You don't need to kill annoying background apps like you always need to do in android.

Gingerbread basically took care of killing apps, so we don't have to do that anymore.

Personally, WP isn't for me but I think it looks good and I don't know why Android fanboys are calling 9 million downloads pathetic. Sounds pretty darn impressive to me.

im a fandroid by all means, but still i am able to say that both wp and ios are great operating systems. Its just that i tend to prefer android tthats all. When it comes to operating systems all three tend to be identical, still i would say wp and ios are the smoother ones out of the three. Android has come a long way, just like wp, but you do still get the ocasional lag here and there (although it isnt as noticible as in the beggining stages of android) when it comes to wp i have noticed NO lag whatsoever, ive noticed minor laging in ios but never have i noticed a spot of lag on a wp phone. Now ive never owned one but my job has me using them constantly (all three actually) and ive noticed this on a day by day basis. That being said when it comes to hardware, android phones tend to have the best hardware hands down, followed by apple products.

Push a wp to it's limit. I bet it will lag. Any os will eventually
