Windows Phone Challenge now playing at a theater near you

0. phoneArena posted on 27 Feb 2013, 14:06

You can't escape it folks, even a trip to the movie theater in an attempt to clear your head won't stop you from seeing the latest Windows Phone Challenge episodes directly on the big screen; the challenge will be seen during the FirstLook feature which is what plays on the screen prior to the coming attractions when you get to the theater early...

Awesome commerical, but it didn't convince me to ditch my Galaxy S III for any of the Windows Phone smartphones...
They still got a lot of work to put into the OS, the devices themselves are pretty nice.

Good commercial, and it sounds good when your platform has an advantage over the other.
But the pros Android has over windows just kill it for me.

Also you dont have to open maps search for "Mexican Restaurants" Google Now is way faster.

It sounds good when the person using your platform for the challenge knows how to use it efficiently and probably practiced it many times while the people using the other platform don't seem to know hot to use it efficiently.

If you really want to show one platform is better than the other, you need to have two people of the same skill level take the challenge. All this shows is the guy using WP8 really knows what he is doing.

Dear Paul, Nick and Jessica (and anyone else doing the search challenge with the SGS3):

Set up your phone with the Voice Search app on your home screen ahead of time and turn on Google Now. When the challenge starts, launch the Voice Search app. Then speak the words, "Mexican restaurant." The results should show up instantly.

I was thinking the same thing dude. I wonder if before hand, they told them they could not use their voice search. Or maybe there's still a lot of people that don't understand how to use their phone to the fullest.

I Returned My Nokia 920 Because The App Selection Sucked So Hard! The features in the video are cool, but I would only use those when i'm on vacation looking for somewhere cool to eat or fun to do.

What apps were you lacking? I'm genuinely interested, because after switching from Android to Windows Phone for the Lumia 900 I haven't missed ANY function-based apps, only a few particular games I had invested a lot of time in. I'll trade stability, appearance, functionality, and efficiency for app selection any day if the internet browser is decent. I use my phone like a pocket computer, that is, games and an internet browser for info or utilities.

And if you say instagram I will find some way to get revenge. I will also lose all respect for you.

it is true Windows Phone 8 makes it really convenient to do a lot of tasks, but that's pretty much it, convenient, while Android can use automation tools like Taskers to automate a lot of the daily tasks.

No offence, I love Window Phone 8 UI and stuff, but I can't move away with the lack of apps which I like (yes Instagram for example), it has most of my apps I need but I already paid for quite a few apps on Android, this is another reason why some users don't move.

It's unfair how they show them winning, they have lost before. I beat them, it was obvious what they do as they know what to do.

Like them, I pinned icons to my homescreen and clicked it and done. I won, big wow. When Window Phone 8 gets more apps and a better deal in 'apps' (they cost quite a bit!) I will move!

Android obviously has a big advantage in turns of available apps, but it also sucks for security. I refuse to do my banking and other transactions with an open source OS that makes it easy for any hacker to walk in and steal financial data, and well as identify info. Do you leave the front door to your house unlocked at night? I don't, and that's why I won't bother with an Android device...

Hahahaha you do know that the apache servers your bank is using is most likely running a unix based distro (open source).

When does open source = unsafe? I'd say it's more safe than any other operating system.
