It appears that the HTC One (M8) that runs Windows Phone is almost identical, from a hardware point of view, to the Android-based One (M8)...

Proof will be in the pudding so to speak. I personally bet it turns out lumpy.

Not everything has to be Android. Be happy for choice.

Yea, but not many people will be buying a phone with 0 camera appeal when that is literally one of the biggest differentiating factors. I mean Lumia phones have the same hardware as the M8, good design, and a 10x better camera. If you really need those front facing speakers then maybe, but otherwise they are wasting their time and the time of their workers.

Umm, what kind of Samsung phone is that on the right side? Because it looks like a concept from the internet.

The explanation is simple: a greater percentage of people who like Windows Phone clicked to read this article, and even though there are probably more people who would answer Android, they chose to not read this due to lack of interest.

Should've been called HTC One Down instead, since WP can be considered as a downgrade from Android.

That depends on the perspective , others myself see it as an upgrade from Android OS, all about choice and if it has VoLTE over M8 its considered an upgrade.

4MP camera with copycat technology? No thanks. Nokia Lumia 930 rocks the boat. You will get the best camera in market.

This pathetic mentality of nokia fanboys (pretending wp fans) is the reason why other OEMs would never make sales and money in WP.

better than the 1020? the 930 may have a better camera, but the m8 has a better battery life, and sound, but it will be nice to just have a windows phone that doesn't look like every other lumia handset

Somehow the UI doesn't match the beauty of One.

The beauty of the UI changed the whole industry from an aesthetics point of view . If any OS is worthy it would be WP it set the Flat UI trend.

Keep faking yourself. Windows maybe the first to implement flat, but it is ugly and childish.

HTC sense 6 has a nice interface but it seems the most childish to me

Then you must get your eyes checked. WP, touchwiz and LG UI are the benchmarks of childish UI.

because icons are so 'business' like. Widgets? Sure, but not always my cup of tea. I much prefer the 8.1 update1 than my note 3. I already loved the OS before this update and loving it even more. The fluidness of the folders is lovely. I would say for 99% of the people, wp 'power' is all they would ever need. Want is a different story though. It is hard to uproot a fan base that see's their OS as the second coming and harp on anything non-google. I for one, am glad I have a choice, soon when my jump hits, the note 3 will be out the door. I thought about the flex, but with a MS rep telling me to wait, I will try that (they got to Feb to wow me out of my 925).

Honestly.. All of the new OS's look AMAZING!... WP8.1, Android L, iOS8, BB10!!. They all look very nice, and not one is bad looking... I really don't understand why anyone would down on one, or the other... ............ 4 very advanced smartphone platforms... Take your pick!!

Agreed! All of the OS's, especially with the updates on each recently, look great! I much rather have four or more OS's to choose from than one or two. CHOICE is always the best choice.

"ugly and childish." Thought you were talking about touchwiz, lenovo, and UIs of other cheap android phones but hey, this is internet so everyone can say what's on their mind.

Every one has their own preference and liking . But that doesn't make other choices bad or ugly
