Windows Phone 8 just 19% of WP ecosystem, if we believe the numbers

0. phoneArena posted on 08 Jan 2013, 14:48

We're not the biggest fans of statistics pulled from ad networks, because there's always something off with the numbers, but unfortunately, it's hard to get numbers otherwise. Still, if the numbers are even close to true, AdDuplex has found out some interesting things about the Windows Phone ecosystem, including that even though Windows Phone 8 only holds 19% of the WP ecosystem, Windows Phone usage overall is on the rise...

i think nokia's numbers come january 24th are going to be around the 10 million mark for Q4. remember, this is how android started off with the droid campaign. you have to start somewhere, and you almost always have to crawl before you walk.

I think the primary difference is that early Android phones were total crap, and the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8x are good devices. Then again, the competition is better too...

I predict WP8 will easily secure 3rd place, and it may possibly grow enough to eventually challenge iOS and Android for top spots. Time will tell, but the smartphones available for this OS platform are pretty awesome thus far!

I've been saying the same thing but they are not launching new devices in India fast enough...

The Only problem i have with Windows Phones are the High Prices even for mid level specs... i know that the OS doesnt need the Specs that an android needs to run smoothly.. but still.. in India(an important market for Nokia) the Nokia Lumia 920 is more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy SIII/Note II, HTC One X+ etc.

Since the OS doesnt need Top End Hardware so the cost of building the phone should be less as well.. I dont believe that the Dual Core Chip and 1 GB Ram on Nokia are more expensive than the specs the Top End Anrdroids Carry..

If MS and Nokia want market share then they should be pricing the devices aggressively and not try to make huge profits from Day One..

For low end devices i think wp is better than android coz if you compare a wp such as the lumia 510 vs a similarly priced android phone, 510 would be fluid but android would stutter like crazy. most people use few apps on low end devices so apps arent a big factor there. spec wise the 510 has a single core 800mhz snapdragon s1 yet in the hands-on it handled panning and pinch to zoom on the browser like it was nothing, i know it doesnt have flash support but even so. wp can easily take the low end market from android and then we will see how fast the wp market share increases in the world.
