3D model made from iPhone 8's schematics leak reveals rear placement possible for Touch ID

The other day, we showed you an image that allegedly revealed the final schematics for the 10th anniversary iPhone model that could be called the Apple iPhone 8, Apple iPhone X, or the iPhone edition. That was followed by another leak of iPhone 8 schematics, this time covering the rear of the phone. With a vertically placed dual camera setup on back, and a rear-facing Touch ID button, the design is said to be one of several that Apple is considering...

Put the phone on a table. ready for me to touch the screen, since its already unlocked when i placed my hand on the back of it. Its much faster than the iPhone fingerprint reader in the front when logging in.

The first phone with a fingerprint scanner at the back was a Huawei phone.

Camera setup not withstanding, that would be very nice.

I agree darkk, the camera setup being vertical just doesn't look good. I wouldn't have thought Apple would even consider doing that, considering their prowess for aesthetics and clean lines, and symmetry. I hope they can get the FPS figured out for the front still, as I simply prefer the home button and scanner on the front. If not then I really think they should integrate it with the Apple logo, since Techie (and can't believe I'm saying this) made a valid point in that the Authentec site states the FPS can be fit into any shape and the Apple logo is really close to the same size as the home button on the front of the 7 Plus i have. Plus its in a really good spot, heck its where I rest my finger when I'm talking on the phone in fact. Guess we will have to wait an see. The vertical camera setup could totally turn me off to it though. If it was centralized then it would look fine, but off to one side just doesn't look good. They should stick with how it is now on the 7 Plus.

We have face recognition now. Haha. See Apple is no more .magical than anyone else. The embedded FPS had issues. Of course Apple is getting theirs through th3 acquired Authentec. But Samsung maybe is making their own? The tech is very new and based on what I could Google, the kinks won't be ironed out in time for Apple to use it in production. This will.give Samsung an advantage if they can bring it to the Note 8 which comes out just weeks before the iPhone. 3D face recognition is harder to work out too VS the facial recognition on the S8. Both don't consistently work. I did set it up, but it just doesn't work. I've already gotten use to just using the FPS with my left had or just keeping my Gear S on for auto unlock

Why not.... wait for it.... simply PRESS THE APPLE-LOGO for the Finger-Print Scanner.. instead of gouging out another completely USELESS hole in the back of the phone!?? Stay Classy, Cuper...

Well, it will likely also have USB 3.1 type c, or at least here's hoping with their eager jump to it on their laptops, I mean they've discovered that they can control what devices they want to work with their phone regardless of plug so yeah, they aren't losing any control.

There needs to be a rule about publishing articles with this garbage, put [FAN RENDER] in big and bold letters. God how hard must that be.

That's actually going to be a 360 view camera. You didn't hear it from me. It will bump out a bit like those grocery store hidden cameras that have 360 view.
