Will display aspect ratio affect your buying decisions in 2018?

Is the screen aspect ratio something that you would put as a primary concern when making a new phone buying decision? Or are you ready to overlook the display's proportions for the right phone?

i hate the 18:9 ratio. Its silly and nothing supports it nor will in the future. Movies, tv pictures etc will always support 16:9 first- anything else will be an afterthought.

I think 18:9 for mobile phones is the right call. 16:9 is great for TV shows and 21:9 is great for movies and computers. 18:9 is a happy medium for me when it comes to my mobile devices since I use it for all of those things. 16:9 for TVs 21:9 for computers And 18.9 for mobile phones. Edit: but I do agree 16:9 is the safest resolution and phone companies shouldn't for get that.

I don't care about the aspect ratio, as long as it keeps those beautiful bezels.

I can deal with 18:9, but the ratio on the S8 & S8+ is just too tall & Skinny.

Lol 18:9 dimensions and s8 size are one in the same unless you are going to have thick side bezels on your phone.

The S8 is acceptable but the S8+ and Note 8 aren't. Both are too tall and skinny. I can palm a basketball with one hand off the dribble so I have very big hands. Those two phones may be sexy but they're not practical. I hesitated buying the Mi Mix 2 and really wanted the regular Mate 10, both have similar dimensions in width and length to a regular 5.5" phone.

Your preference which is cool. I don't find my Note8 to be too tall on the slightest and far easier to hold than other phablets. The s8+ is 1.3mm taller than ip7+ yet the iPhone wasn't too tall.

As today 16:9 is best option, however in the feature content catching up i dont mind 18:9

I like how 16:9 is not "Wide-screen".

It is widescreen. I'm fact, 1920x1080 is considered a 2K resolution, on my if it is a 16:9 widescreen display.

By the time I upgrade more content should utilize new aspect ratio. Looking for at least 6 inch phone.

For content to support devices if 6+", all those devices will be 18:9 or higher. Everyone needs to get over it. If you prefer 16:9, just buy that device and be happy. Stop trying to hate on something you don't even like. It's ok not to like or prefer something else, but you don't have to drag it on. Don't like and just 4get about it. I don't like or dislike 18:9. But as a person who does web design and have to work with media, I do know as devices get larger the aspect ratio has to change to make the content fit.
