Owners of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus for Sprint and the Google Nexus S 4G could be receiving that Android 4.1 update that they've been dreaming off as soon as Thursday; the software version will be FH05 for the Samsung GALAXY Nexus, and JRO03R for the Samsung Nexus S...

and verizon is last to JB.

vzw is such an awful company. i know im going to leave them, but not sure for which company yet. this news definitely puts sprint in front of them for at least one thing.

Don't leave Verizon, if you own an Android just root & you will never EVER have to wait for Verizon to update anything.

I am not condoning Verizon's long wait when it comes to its updates, BUT Verizon has a reputation to keep. They are the BEST mobile carrier in the USA by far.

From the early Droid days there were some horrible fiascos with updating. I remember Android 2.1 & 2.2 for starters. That was scary.

I really don't blame them because they want something that will works & keep the reputation they spent billions of dollars to get. So I think that is a good thing that Verizon does these extensive test on updates so they can guarantee the reputation they have earned.

They are not the best, they are the largest. VZW got big by mergers and buying out other company.

But the thing is, people shouldn't HAVE to root and flash ROMs just to get updated software, the carrier should release them in a timely manner.

And it more trouble than it's worth. Everything on the phone gets wiped and then you have to go through the process of putting everything back on the phone.

And any save files for games that you had are gone and you gotta start from the beginning.

Yes, the process of rooting and flashing ROMs is easy, but it's more trouble than it's worth with having to back everything up, reinstall everything make backups of that just in case the ROM messes up along the way.

It's all the work that goes before and after is why people would rather wait.

Verizon is far from the best. They have no customer support. I've been treated like sh!t in the store and on the phone within the past month.

The update thing has been covered.

They are taking away unlimited plans. I get why, but its just one more reason to leave.

You pay a premium price (the most) for a premium network, on par devices, subpar plans and subpar customer service.

If that's the case, then that's excellent news for me. My Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes to my house tomorrow. Looks like I've made the right upgrade choice. It may not be the newest Android phone, but at least it has a chance of being updated first. Can't wait to get my new GNex. :-)

as a sprint store tech hopefully with the nexus s 4g it will fix the issue where the OS unravels and every app down to the launcher force closes to the point where even the boot loader wont allow it to delete. i feel a cusotmers pain where they cant back up their stuff even if they are able to get into a different device.

Has anyone got the update yet? My GNex has been acting weird all morning, like the time was 3hrs off, the phone would not access the internet even on my home wifi. Just crazy.

no when i came in this morning the first thing i did was check our store demos for the update but no response i even did a hard reset and rechecked. no update.

it must be a roll out update where some people get it as a soak test to see how it responds before the next wave pushes out.

whats your nexus doing?
