Why do women prefer using the iPhone over other smartphones?

0. phoneArena posted on 24 Jul 2012, 14:37

Oh iPhone! You seem to be a big hit with the ladies. Apple’s pride and joy is undoubtedly a dynamic piece of tech that’s bursting from the seams with plenty of personality, but interestingly enough in my experience, there’s just something about it that make women...

Because their friend told them to get it. That was the number one reason I heard working in retail.

In my observation it seems that The iPhone is a status symbol that states "I have arrived" or I am like everyone else. Conformity really. I ask my 16yr old daughter why she wanted an iPhone and all she could really answer is that all her friends had one. Recently that changed once she saw the GS3 now she wants that and half of all her friends are clamoring for it. When I asked her why she and her friends now want the GS3. her answer was Dad don't you know what the kids in school are saying now and I quote- to the rhythm of Tears for Fears Shout

"Shout shout the iPhone is played out these are things were talking about"

She tells me now since every kid and their mother has one it is no longer Cool- the whole Idea of being a teen is to rebel and not conform to everyone else.

However, in my opinion I think it has to do with Adam and Eve- Eve was the one to take the first bite of the Apple and the rest is history. Lol. Perfect Apple marketing???

Interestingly enough, most of the girls I know with smartphones have Android phones! And most of my guy friends have iPhones.... Not sure why that is.

I'd prefer a larger Android phone because the screen is easier on my eyes. Besides, I already have an Ipad 1 and an Ipod Touch. I don't need more Apple gear.

Women prefer it because women are stupid. However, they will buy what men tell them to so be sure and tell them to buy a Galaxy Nexus. Just be prepared to constantly have to stop and help them with it.

Funny, I seem to remember a LOT of complaints about the design of the SG3 a few weeks ago...am I to presume that those were all from those rare ladies who venture here?

Out of the many Korean ESL students I have been with for the past few months...
Only one was with an iPhone 4.
The rest of her classmates (also girls) were using Optimus LTE, SGSII's and Nexus S'

But to each their own.

Actually, the reason I hear most often from the women in my classes, is that it is dainty. I run a statistics lab and ask lots of questions, including why they choose the phones they have.

Another interesting statistic, from direct observation. When the bell rings and the class empties, we have observed people and what they do on the way out the door.

The question was, how many, and what sex, have the phone to their head by the time they reach the door.

For 5 1/2 year now it has been the same: Women 4:1 over men have their phone in operation by the time they reach the door.

Apple is marketing their iPhone to those who are "technically challenged" - i.e. YOUTH, the ELDERLY, and WOMEN. Look at their Siri ads staring Zooey Deschane, John Malkovich, Martin Scorsese etc. - these are people who are "technically challanged". It is somewhat analogous to riding a bike. The iPhone is like a bike with training wheels that will hold your hand and safely get you to your destination. However, when you are ready to gradute to a real "ADULT" phone without the iPhone's simplistic limitations, real MEN choose Android, Windows, etc. based phones...

I never realized cell phones could be "manly" or otherwise. Besides, I see plenty of men use Iphones, most likely because:

1) They're status symbols
2) They have that "cool" factor
3) They're easy to use.

I'd prefer an Android phone because their screens are usually bigger and easier on my eyes.

Most people, not just women, don't know enough about phones in general, so they buy whatever their friends have.
