This is no surprise. I work with a guy that has had an iPhone, an iPhone 3g and and iPhone 4 while we worked together. The running joke was that the iPhone decided he was done listening to that song, or done looking at the internet, or done watching that video, etc...because it would just (force) close the app and return to the home screen. He always said he wouldn't dare question the iPhone, it knows better than he when he's done.

But, yeah - iOS force closes just as much as android, but Apple hides it. Then they can claim you're just holding it wrong, so you must have hit the home button.

Another iFan myth busted.

And, blame the crashes in android mainly on the OEMs and carriers, who load the phone up with custom UIs and bloatware. Stock android is very stable, it just wasn't pretty.

another thing may be the way iOS force closes, when android force closes it actually tells you to either "forceclose" or "wait" but on iOS it just shuts off, so more simple minded people may not realize it just force closed. s

Can't wait to see if this even shows up on BGR, and what spin they put on it if it does.

i can honestly say i didnt see this coming, when i read the article i was like " damn android is gonna get shown up here" but they whooped ass. Apple states they dont like to change screen sizes cuz of "fragmentation" or what not, well with about every size screen in the android line up Android apps are actually holding up better..and they are more than likely running at the same time, not one at a time like on iOS. hmm...

Android crashes more. At least in my case. I've got Android phone, and iPod touch 4G. While iPod hasn't more than a few times, my android phone crashes all the time (especially the widgets).

Of course...cuz a few cases ppl post in forums goes against what was posted in this article...by this company....that tracked it....

I have seen with every Android phone released that its great and sucks all at the same time..

Lemons? Sure thats possible.
Specific apps? Sure thats posible.
Lower end phone/weaker hardware? Sure that is a sad fact.
Some manufactures are just better than others? Sure...see it every day just for reception.

hey in the tech world you win some and you lose some.. fandroids when is not in their favor attack the author or the 3rd party company that did the study. or simply denied everything and come with their make up stories on how their Android device worked like a charm for them... so see the difference on how we react is there... we are being pros.. unlike some people from other OS not being windows....

This happens on both sides, but even still I agree with you. I hate to see the author get attacked just because you don't agree with the message. I remember Michael H. being relentlessly attacked by a couple iOS fans for something really pety and stupid. And just recently John V. was attacked by a couple Android fans in the Prime vs iPad 2 article, for hesitating to say the Prime had a better screen. How strang is that to ding they guy for weighing both options thoroughly?

@ my buddy gallitoking. In honor of this news, I will be changing my avatar back to the Android Ninja again. I knew you would get a kick out of it too, which only confirms my suspicions about you... You are really an undercover Android fan at heart, just waiting for the right device! Let me know when you find it, and might I be so bold as to suggest when you get that Android, youre avatar (as much as I love Fog Horn) should be changed to the RoboChicken! That would be cool! :)

I agree with that statement. Im bored with android and iOS. Im interested in Windows, especially if they deliver on their roadmap ie Apollo and their tablets

btw i think android handles crashes better than ios. when i crash, and i do have crashes about 2x a month, android autoreports it, autorestores my data if i was in the middle of something, but most importantly it names the app responsible for the crash so i can remove the problem app if it keeps happening. much much better than the traditional ios blackout. i had a itouch 4g running ios 4, and it woulld crash MUCH more often than my g2x does now. notably my itouch hated my internet browsing habits, there is one particular site that i use frequently that would cause safari to fc everytime i accessed it. also youtube would crash at least once every 10 videos. from what ive heard ios5 only made it worse.

You bring up an EXCELLENT point. You can tell what is causing the crash and start looking for solutions...in some cases its something with the OS itself. Again...you can start looking for solutions cause you can see exactly what crashed..

I don't know who's phone is or not crashing. My wife has an iphone and I have never once seen or heard her say it crashed. I have a Samsung Rocket and rarely if ever has it crashed on me. I guess if your the person who has to have all 500,00 Apps available on your phone, either version, it is going to crash obviously.

Don't get me wrong, I think this site is one of the best sites for keeping current with mobile news. That being said, I have to address:

I'm sorry, but (based on past articles), if *Android* crashed more, the title would have read more like "Android More Likely To Crash, Study Finds". Even the end of the article is filled with "oh, we can expect ICS to do the same thing so don't pay attention to this slight against Apple" rejoinders.

Biased towards Apple much?

LoL. I have to be objective about this and I think the study is somehow correct. I was an IOS User since Iphone2G There were many crashes. Android seems solid altought I have only own one Android device, but crashes are less common But thanks for the opinion Gallito King :D

For the 100th time the admin taco had the royal duty of exterminating the sinful Android fans in his attempt to ban everyone he banned himself. Gemini only trolls and calls names so you won't sher around.
