What version of Android are you on?

So, the distribution speed for every new major Android build has always been the punchline for a now tired (though, still relevant) joke. Today, Android's most recent distribution stats have been posted and they show that the newest build, Android 7 Nougat which was officially released at the end of last year is only installed on about 11% of devices. Most of the devices out there (32%) rock the 2-year-old Android 6 Marshmallow build, but there are almost as many (30%) on the 3-year-old Lollipop.

Its for the iFans to have something to vote on in this poll. Its about equivalent to iOS 10 feature wise.

I just updated my old Samsung S III to the latest official Android for that phone, which is 4.4 Kit Kat (which is awesome, as it can now be used with Adndroid Pay!) That said, the phone has been continuously used since launch, first by me for about a year and a half, and then by my mum ever since. The phone runs well, and it has NFC, Android Pay, and most of the things that the average person would ever need. I imagine that there are A LOT more people like that in the wild than would be evident by a poll done on this website.

Folks here will be more likely to be on the latest than the general population, I'd bet.

That was my initial thought. Besides, don't nearly all android phones shutdown or get extremely slow if you refuse to accept the software updates/upgrades?

Nope, it just continues runs like normal, same like iOS However, if you don't update, then you may not be able to install some apps (again like iOS). But that's not a problem since devs min API level is many years back

When most of PA users will lie so they don’t provide embarrassing vote results.

When a butthurt troll will make excuses because he can't accept reality.

Lie about what? Most of us have new phone. So why would we need to lie? Most of the post here people have the S8, Pixel, recent Xperia's and the G6 ro name a few. They are all 7.x out the box. We aren't like you apple fans who lie.

So you're saying 700 people who visit this site dont have new phones? The S8 alone has sold over 5M+ phones in just one month. No one is lying just because you claim they are...faceless troll!

I wouldn't go as far as saying that the average android phone carrier is using an S8...But you can almost guarantee that they're using an android phone with the latest updates offered; otherwise, they're using out-of-date apps, no Samsung pay, etc

I've three androids... One is on kitkat, one is in marshmallow, one is in nougat

I also have 3 Android's... I have an S3, S4 and S8+. The S3 is on 4.4KK, the S4 is on 5.01 Lollipop and my S8 is on 7.0. I voted for the one I actually use! lol
