What our readers think of the Galaxy Note

0. phoneArena posted on 20 Mar 2012, 08:40

The Samsung Galaxy Note is a strange smartphone. It quickly managed to become relatively popular with the geek public for a number of reasons. The first one is, of course, its giant 5.3" screen. This is still the largest screen in a device being marketed as a phone. Second comes Samsung's wild promotion of the handset that has practically made sure that even people who aren't diehard Android users are aware of it...

I moved to the Note on Friday Night from an iPhone 4S. I prefer larger phones. The speed and screen to go with the camera are amazing. However, battery life is HORRIBLE. I am moving to a role that will have me on the phone a lot. Well putting the phone through the paces, I cant get 7 hours on it. In fact I am streaming Pandora with it plugged in and my battery is dropping. The display and Pandora consumers. The plug in is to an AC outlet and not USB.

My brother has the Note(I have the SGSII) and I've noticed no lag whatsoever on it. Neither has he. He uses it daily for his work as he runs 4 stores. The battery lasts all day and he's on that thing all day. He was totally against Android, favoring WP7 and even IOS it after but after he got the Note, that all changed. One of the top 3 phones on the market right now.

my honest question is how is it on reception? Big city sure it's fine, but Samsung is notorious for horrible reception phones. If im gonna invest into a monster I want it to be a good monster

Samsung treats their flagships very differently than their cheap phones. there hasn't been a reception issues on a galaxy series phone yet.

Better go to XDA developers forum and get a spoon full of sugar to go with all the grief on poor reception over there that some are having then!

you do realize that the roms on XDA are not always up to snuff right? most connection issues on a custom rom are due to poor coding. normal people that dont root, dont go to XDA to complain.

Ok then go to Sprint users forum, or most any other forum that has a Samsung phone ok! This is also non rooted stock issues being reported on XDA.The OP asked this question based on problems he has probably read just like I have read all over the internet. Even some of the GSM phones had issues with reception albeit not to the extent of Verizon or Sprint versions....LOS was real and had to be addressed publicly and a bug patch was issued for Sprint. Nexus1 for Sprint had antenna issues too....just saying

Been using this beast from the past 3 months.....
The xperience is amazing....and the battery life is the best....

I think of it as a very powerful tablet which fits into my pocket quite easily....10/10

For a smartphone 4.5inch Max
For a tablet 10.1inch max
In between wouldn't work for me. It would be uncomfortable as a smartphone and too small as a tablet.

Well I absolutely love my Note it is beautiful, fast, haven't had any problems with it lagging.I'm not a big guy by any means and the size is feels great to me.You don't have to be some big person I'm not by any means to carry this phone. It fits fine in the pocket,I like the build quality yes its all plastic but it doesn't feel cheap and I have the white one which is absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait for ICS to hit this thing. My wife calls me a phone whore LOL because I buy and sale phone quite a bit,but I will not be getting rid of this beast anytime soon love it.

I'm waiting for this phone to come to Big Red as the Samsung Journal even though I don't qualify, at this point, for a carrier (Verizon) subsidy; I will sell my DROID RAZR™, Lapdock 100, HD Station and the rest I will pay out-of-pocket. I may even sell my Original Galaxy Tab T859.

My only request and wish is that the Verizon variant be a Global device; otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing.

Phone gets 11/10 from me!!

Did the computer autocorrect HTC to NYC? Lol, that's hilarious! =P But, yea, I'm looking forward to the One XL and I thought I read on phonearena that the quad-core One X is heading to the FCC with AT&T branding a while back... What happened to that? Was it some b.s., cuz I would really love to have a quad-core HTC phone with Beats and gladly give up LTE speeds.

Samsung really knows how to toy with us Android customers in the states... I wanted the SGSII, then they announced the Skyrocket, which I was leaning towards, then the NOTE, and then the Skyrocket HD, and finally the long-awaited SGSIII... What is that, 5 phones in a matter of months??? not even a yr... -_-

bought it about a week ago. its stunning.
every time I unlock it, it took me a moment to admire the beauty of the screen, and i can do what i wanted after that.
touch wiz is no disadvantag! of you dont like it, instal another luncher. its android and not iOS! you can instal somthing you prefer. ( Im not an iOS hater. i love iOS 5 on my ipod touch.)
I think the only disadvantage is the battery. it is massive, but with note, you almost have it doing somthing 24/7. so more battery is needed with this beast.

I don't get people complaining about the Note...who the hell forces you to buy a "ridiculously big phone" ? Don't want nor need a 5,3" screen ? Then choose from thousands of different phones. This is not Apple's "One size fits all" reality where you're given just one model and you either like it or you're stuck with a phone that doesn't suit you. Welcome to the world of choices.
