Virgin Mobile to offer $79.99 entry level PCD Chaser

For those looking to make the jump from featurephone to smartphone, Virgin Mobile has the PCD Chaser for $79.99 without requiring you to sign a contract, Virgin is marketing this entry-level model right at those who currently are totin' a featurephone and want to upgrade to the wonderful world of smartphones. The handset offers a 3.2 inch touhscreen with an 800MHz processor under the hood and a 3MP camera on back. Android 2.3 is aboard. Virgin must have hit the right spot with its pricing as the device shows online that it already is out of stock

While all of Virgin's monthly plans include unlimited data and text, for $35 you can get 300 minutes of talk which increases to 1200 minutes for $45 and unlimited talk for $55. The unlimited data gives you 2.5GB of full-speed data each month after which your service is throttled. If you sign up for a mobile hotspot plan for $15 a month, your monthly full-speed data cap rises to 3.5GB.

While the PCD Chaser is currently offered online only (that is, when it is back in stock), it will be found at retailers starting in September.
