Verizon's first 5G mobile device goes official ahead of 2019 commercial release
The age of blazing fast 5G smartphones is upon us, according to everyone from Qualcomm to Samsung, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint, but before that rumored top-notch Galaxy S10 variant with a grand total of six cameras actually sees daylight, US carriers are trying to get us excited about next-gen mobile hotspots.

The nation’s largest wireless service provider may have been the first (in the world) to roll out a (largely experimental) 5G Home network back in October, but it looks like AT&T will beat Verizon to the punch in terms of 5G mobile availability.

AT&T already took the wraps off a “standards-based” commercial 5G mobile hotspot a little while ago in collaboration with Netgear, and now Verizon follows suit by joining forces with Inseego on its very own state-of-the-art hotspot.

This Verizon-exclusive device aims to separate “hype from reality by bringing advanced 5G NR mobile technology to life”, although unfortunately, its commercial release is scheduled for an unspecified time next year.

That obviously makes sense, as Verizon has no plans to flip the mobile 5G network switch in the coming weeks. Once that finally happens, you’ll be able to purchase this Snapdragon 855 chipset and Snapdragon X50 modem-powered hotspot for an unknown price, with all the (initial) 5G bells and whistles in tow, as well as “powerful next generation Wi-Fi performance” based on Qualcomm’s Wi-Fi 6-ready mobile solution.

Bottom line, if you happen to live in an area where Verizon will make 5G “super high speeds and ultra-low latency” possible next year, this Inseego mobile hotspot looks like the first chance you’ll get to experiment all the major network breakthroughs, followed by the Moto Z3 and Samsung Galaxy S10.
