Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 receives update giving it the August 2017 security patch

Even though the Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S5 launched in April 2014, the graybeard apparently isn't too old to receive an update. The new software update to version MMB29M.G900VVRU2DQH2 brings the Android August 2017 security patch to the former flagship. In addition, the update fixes an issue that prevented the phone from connecting and pairing with some Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices...

all these Security Updates do is screw up the phone.. it causes the phone to NOT recognize the Micro-SD card .. a Reset is the only way to correct it.. it has done it on my wife's Galaxy S5 up to this time as well as on my Note 4.. Verizon will NOT help with advising how to block the updates and advises to do a Reset.. a waste of time

Not sure about that, as I've been receiving security updates on my old Galaxy S6 with no problems at all.
