Remember the days of old before all these newfangled touchscreens with their apple-berry-droids? Verizon and Samsung sure do and have released a flip phone that they describe as “simplicity meets style”...

Fail. These specs are like ten years old lol.

Seriously though, it's kinda weird that you actually have to pay real money for this thing.

Whats actually weird is that it actually costs money to make this phone. So why would you not have to pay money for it?

If my VZW bills gets any higher I may just go back to a feature phone like this.

Any word on a Big Red Asus Padfone?

Lol. Could get a LG. Lucid for about the same. If you want a smart phone.

As for the Asus Padfone coming to u.s. its still up in the air. Sprint has been pushing hard to get something from Asus. That's about it.

Looks like an excellent choice for a pre-paid plan.

wth is up with the price? This phone doesnt even cost that much to manufacture, it has no business being priced this for a contract. Maybe for prepaid service.

129.99 + $30 (upgrade fee) - $50 Rebate = $110 for a FLIP PHONE! seriously vzw!

Bet that phone would be killer at PV compared to CSM

Have nothing but customers that want free free free trying to get upgrade fee will be hard enough

Remember guys and gals, some still want a phone for a phone. They don't want all the fancy things we've grown to love or for some hate.

I love having a smartphone but I would love to give back the $29.99 a month data plan that comes along with it sometimes also.

Now $79.99 is a bit ummm on the not realistic side. Especially for a flip phone as basic as this. I would say $30 or $49 at most. No mail in rebate either.

I am looking fwd. to if and when all upgrades go away and we have to get the phones from the people that make them at their price. I mean I can’t call TW cable and ask for a discount on a TV so I can use their service so why should we get a discount on a cell phone?

Simple fact of people aren't going to buy every cell phone they want at 600 bucks possibly....-___- The companies get a portion of a 2 year agreement opposed to making 200 bucks with no lock in payment. With the economy the way it is the average person can't just cough up 600 to be in a contract than pay the already high monthly fees for verizon.

So what is the reason why we can’t get discounts on TV from Cable Company’s? People will still buy the phone they want. They care more about their cell phone than they do about rent or any other bill. It’s sad really. What is sadder is people think they deserve a discount. People will disagree with me because they are worried more about themselves than about the overall picture.

Majority of Cable Companies aren't selling the tvs in store or on the phone. Phone Carriers do. If Cox or Century Link were selling tv's like Verizon pushes out phones I could honestly agree with you. But simple thing is they don't. Thats why tv's aren't discounted

More to add in why are prepaids so damn much? No Contract. No residual income for companies as much as contracts are. Why would I sign a contract to pay full price? Its how deals are made. People can always pay full price on post paid if they like they aren't bound to sign a contract for a new phone.

Things will be better with no contracts. They would have to fight with each other to lower overall cost. The company you go and stay with should be dependent on the service they can provide you not if you can get a “good deal” on a new phone. I have been in this a long time. The number one reason someone says they will leave a company is because they can get a free phone or cheaper phone with someone else. It is never that that company can offer a more superior service.

I work for Verizon services im pretty sure I see all that everyday. Service is a great thing for people and some don't care. You have one pure misconception of services apparently. I work in the ghetto but yet has the most costly service im selling but it seems to be working out fine. Granted there are times i feel like prepaid is the best but truthfully contract is the way to go regardless

Ok folks, this is how we are going to work this. Repeat after me folks: PIECE.....OF.....s**t! Thank you ladies and gentlemen. I'll be here all week.

Look, the fact of the matter is, this is not 1992. This is 2012. I have been bitching and moaning about how Verizon's lineup sucks and people have given me alot of s**t for that and honestly, look at what the made. The Gusto 2? Are you serious? While I respect history and yes, there was a time when this is what ruled the world but come on man! That's like Ford saying, hey, we are going to build this year a 1921 model for 2012. While nice looking, give me a break. All these assclowns on this site talking about how VZW has a better line-up, yeah ok, look at what has come out in the past 4 months: Samsung Brightside, LG Lucid, and now the Samsung Gusto 2. Look at what AT&T has: The Titan, The Note, Lumia 900, and now announces the One series. Oh yeah, and let not forget the LG Optimus.

ok.... a few things wrong with your post dude. you forget the LG Spectrum with the LG Lucid. Which both dont fall too far from the Optimus Lineup. Secondly. and im gonna say something that might blow your mind. NOT EVERYONE WANTS A SMARTPHONE.... Seriously. The Gusto 2 (while seemingly overpriced but that will quickly change) is for someone who wants a phone to make calls and occasionally send text messages. A phone for the older set. A phone for the people out in the field who just need A PHONE. and 3rd. Have you seen VZW's Lineup? I think it makes a strong case for itself.
1. Samsung Galaxy Nexus
2. Motorola DROID RAZR Series
3. Motorola DROID 4.
4 LG Lucid and Spectrum
you wanna talk blackberry?
The Blackberry Bold 9900 is a great device.
We have the iPhone as well.
Bout the only thing we are lacking in is windows phones and Feature/Basic phones LIKE THIS. because somewhere in this giant world of technology is a grandmother who dosent want a data package and just wants a phone to contact her grandson or family and tell them they love them. I see it in my store all the time. So to recap. ITS NOT A SMARTPHONE. ITS SUPPOSE TO BE BASIC. IT HAS A PLACE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER PHONE/SMARTPHONE. So get over it.

If you don't want a Smartphone, I understand that. But the truth is, don't announce that to be your next phone to come out because it makes you look stupid. There are people out there who don't want one and they will get a basic one when they get into the store. They will get theirs. For the rest of us, who gives a damn.
The last 4 sentences you wrote is all bulls**t folks. This is 2012 so YOU GET OVER IT!

resistant to the smartphone...not everyone can afford the data plan or want their 8 YO son to have the Iphone. Get some family Data sooner than later, VZ-DUB
