Verizon Wireless starts selling UTStarcom CDM-8940

Verizon Wireless launches UTStarcom (formerly Audiovox Communications Corp.) 3G EV-DO handset – CDM-8940 - at the price of $229.99 after a $70 rebate with a two-year contract. The new device will allow consumers to access a variety of VCAST applications offered by Verizon, including Video on Demand (VOD) capabilities. The main features of the dual-band CDMA phone are:


  • dual 260k color TFT displays
  • built-in 1.3 megapixels camera with flash and video capture
  • CDMA2000 1xRTT /  CDMA2000 1xEV-DO high-speed data
  • BREW
  • GPSOne™ capability
  • Openwave UP Browser
  • mini-SD memory expansion slot
