lol you can treat me how you want i dont qq over cell phone forums. he actually said it will be a much larger network. http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/4G-LTE-will-be-larger-than-4G-WiMAX-says-Sprint-CEO-article-a_10 396.html

It Will Be Larger, It's Easier To Deploy To The Gsm Networks. Doesn't Mean It Will Out Perform Wimax, Look At Cdma People Said It Sucked And Yet It Out Performs Gsm Security And Speed Wise...

Why do you capitalize everything?

LTE will out-perform wimax for a couple reasons. The first is the simple licensing issue... and VZW got licenses to broadcast in the entire continental United States. The second is the frequency. LTE with VZW is being deployed on a MUCH lower frequency (700Mhz) than wimax (around 2.5 Ghz) meaning LTE will have much better in-building service because radio signals with lower wavelengths penetrate better. VZW has also announced that the average speed will be approximately 5-12 Mbps and could have bursts well exceeding 40 Mbps which they've experienced in field tests (and let's not forget that LTE in Germany was field tested at 120 Mbps). Based on what I've read (which may be wrong) wimax typically sees an average speed of 6-15 Mbps.

Those average speeds for both is similar so what makes it better? From what I've read the frequency for LTE will require more towers and test in Germany don't relate to America with vzw being so secretive about what their's does

Don't forget that the feild tests don't simulate 89million subs real world can't be tested til after at least four years after deployment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Wimax is 2.5 GHZ frequency wise, wouldn't its wavelength be lower that LTE 700 MHZ? Frequency is inversely proportional to wavelength, so the higher the frequency, the lower the wavelength would be? 2.5ghz>700 mhz in frequency.

It is anticipated that in a practical deployment, using 4X2 MIMO in the urban microcell scenario with only a single 20-MHz TDD channel available system wide, the 802.16m system can support both 120 Mbit/s downlink and 60 Mbit/s uplink per site simultaneously. It is expected that the WiMAX Release 2 will be available commercially in the 2011-2012 timeframe[24]. The goal for the long-term evolution of WiMAX is to achieve 100 Mbit/s mobile and 1 Gbit/s fixed-nomadic bandwidth as set by ITU for 4G NGMN (Next Generation Mobile Network). This can not be beat by LTE especially if Wimax is first to market.

@whocares: Haven't you learne# that more doesn't mean better. GSM=more. CDMA=better. Just because there will be more LTE, that doesn't make it superior to WIMAX. Both offer similar speeds, WIMAX just costs less to deploy. Don't hate because Sprint is 1st in the game of 4G. It just makes you look like an ignorant fanboy. Get the facts.

post 28 sums up the whole fastest network, there'll always be some advantage one has over the at different in time but on a regular basis it's vzw or Sprint that's consistently fast. If you want to wait for LTE to say you can use the aircard in Scandanavia but never leave, Tupelo, MS go ahead. I know T Mobile and AT&T have places where they are faster but really, how many and how often.

LTE is 3.5G, not 4G

Did everyone Forget That AT&Ts' 3G Network Only Covers 1/4Th Of The Country,It Only Outperforms Do To Speed And It's So Damn Small, Travel From L.A To N.Y Take A sprintpcs,Verizon At&t Phone With You, Verizon Will Offer The Most 3G Coverage Guaranteed... I Have Sprint It Has More 3G Coverage Than At&t, Wich Is A Shame Cause The At&t Name Used To Mean A Lot. I've Had A lot Of Wireless Carriers, I Miss VZW..

At&t's network is slightly faster in a few cities, not across the board.(thanks to their use of cdma data tech) that hardly makes their whole network faster. Look at all the other reports that consistently put Sprint and Verizon on top. Technically, tmobile has the fastest in a few markets...that hardly makes their overall network faster/better.

Verizon or even Sprint has never claimed to have the fastest or even a faster 3G network. Verizon only claims to have the largest and most reliable. Even Verizon's CTO Dick Lynch has said that AT&T and Tmobile 3G data is about 10 to 15% faster than Verizon's 3G but in the long scheme of things, Verizon wins because 10 to 15% faster is not match for 500% (5 times) more 3G coverage overall.

We care becasue At&t has it's network issues which are blamed on the iphone yet VZW and Sprint carry 63% of all US data traffic but don't have the same issues as At&t.

... I'll give it to Sprint... but Verizon just has way more Customers... Doesn't anyone else see this????? SellPhones82- Absolutely correct. +1

The test that declared AT&T the fastest, was only tested in 13 cities. Is that really enough to declare an entire network the fastest? I can give you a list of 14 cities I have tested my Sprint 3G coverage against AT&T and Verizon....Sprint was quite a bit faster than AT&T, slightly faster than Verizon. Here's a list of metros Sprint is the fastest: Little Rock, AR - Fayetteville, AR - Fort Smith, AR - Memphis, TN - Dallas, TX - Kansas City, MO - Oklahoma City, OK - Austin, TX - San Antonio, TX - Houston, TX - Nashville, TN - Chicago, IL - Phoenix, AZ - Texarkana, AR,TX - ok, that's 14 metros in which Sprint is faster. I now declare Sprint the fastest 3G in the nation. See how easy that is? A much wider test needs to be done to declare speed over an entire network, not just a few places that most people never visit. Maybe they should do it by region, or better yet, don't claim the fastest....since so many things affect speed (weather, tree cover, elevation, type of phone, etc) Everybody knows at&t is not known for speed or coverage. Before Cingular bought att, they were the size Sprint is now. Verizon was the largest before that buyout. So, the buying alltel point is moot. Most people sign up with at&t for 2 reasons, somebody they know has it, so they do it for m2m purposes, and the iphone. Well, both of those points are about to be moot.(Sprint's anymobile, anytime) (Verizon and/or Sprint getting iphone)

How actually can you do that? The point is that there are areas but consistentcy is lacking but it's great that OK has good speed for you.

ummm yeah, ok....if you say so fanboy.

If any of you ever do a test between t-mobile and the others, t-mobile wins when it comes to speed. Loading, downloads, everything. And how can any of you say cdma is better? The rest of the world uses gsm....cdma sucks.

But Your missing The Point Both At&t and T-mobile Are So Small 3G Wise That now I Have A Signal Walks Across Street Now No Signal Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... Shit How Do I Call Dominos Now Nooooooooooo. Why?????? Beep Alright I Get One Bar Gsm Places Call Beep Beep BEEP All Circuits Are Busy Try Again Later, Noooooooooo Wait Didn't You just Use A circuit To Thell Me That????? Pizza Need Pizza....

You the one who's missing the point fanboy, USA doesn't have the most advanced cell tech and the top carriers worlwide use H S P A....why..??? cuz is 5 times faster, voice and data capable at the same time and in the last five years HSPA have got more than 4 updates CDMA only two revisions and that's it. In 2012 Nokia the biggest cell maker will stop production of CDMA handsets and will turn GSM and LTE only. Stick with your Sprint crap or switch to slow-rizon wireless..!!!

Not True And FyI I'm Not A Fanboy Of Anything Or Anyone, For The Record Cdma Has Multiple Upgrades Still Remaining And EVDO REV B(Multiple Carrier Evdo Service)Uscellular,Verizon, sprint,ETC. Would Smoke HSPA 5.6Mbps RW) EVDO B In Real World Can Achieve 28Mbps, Rev B Only Requires A Simple Software Upgrade To The Network, Do To The Fact Most Cdma Phones Sold After 2005 Are Rev B Capable, And I'll Help you, Since You Seem To Be Blind.... CDMA IS MORE SECURE, AND OFFERS FASTER DATA RATES AND IS CHEAPER IN THE LONG RUN, IT USES 1/3 THE POWER OF gsm, CDMA 512Bit Encryption Gsm 32Bit EVDO 1M HSPA 128Bit/256Bit, Not To Mention That Sim Card That Can Be spied On While You Sleep....
