Various images of the dual camera module for the Apple iPhone 7 Plus surface

Back in January, connected Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo proclaimed that the Apple iPhone 7 Plus will be available in a special variant that offers dual cameras on the rear of the phablet. Kuo, who has been often right on the money with his calls, says that both lenses will weigh in at 12MP and will be produced by Sony. One lens will offer a wider aperture than the other...

Mongoose is a custom processor by Samsung, and used in the Exynos 8890. They didn't use formal ARM design.

That's not true, Tyrion. Samsung and Apple don't design their sensors. They might request specifications, but Sony is still the designer.

If Samsung can make their own sensors, why can't they design one. Anatomy dual sources their sensors. They would want them to be exact same ones to not create discrepancy.

They can/did design their own sensors but they dont have the manufacturing strength. Sony has 1. Their own manufacturing units and 2. Their own sensor designs which are the best in industry. So Samsung 1. Used their custom made BRITCELL sensors in one set of S7 series phones to cut costs. 2. Outsourced the rest to Sony which made IMX### so that they can meet the demand in time for the S7 launch.

S7 doesn't have BRITECELL LOL. BRITECELL may come next year though. Exactly that's what happened as you said. But Sony was given the instructions on the sensor as it should be similar to the ISOCELL Samsung made.

We did not said they cannot design one we said thats when they get them from Sony they just give spec and features they want and Sony design it.

You are wrong. They use custom sensor yes but they are mostly build with Sony tech with some addition in the case of the S7. They basically gave the isocell tech to Sony and asked them to build a custom sensor with it and Sony tech.

Because, there's a chance that apple's version could be used for completely different thing... I have my doubts, but that's just me. Also, if you ask 10 people about Hiway, about 9 will say they have no idea what you're talking about. You ask 10 people about iPhone and 10 people will tell you what it is. Besides how is Hiway using their "dual" camera? What are they doing with it?

What i saw as features from the suposed dual camera setup for future apple product sound like a copy of what the G5 bring to the table today..

Then I'll be the first to call it a gimmick.

Can't wait to see these in action! Hopefully its to improve image quality Not just bokeh effect or wide angle

14. AlikMalix unregistered

That's exactly what I'm thinking and worried about. Worried because Apple is now capable of doing something gimmicky like Live Photos. I'll be greatly disappointed if this is for some 3D photos or some fish eye wide angle like it is in LG G5. Parallax effect on photos would be cool - but like Live Photos - fun for a day or two then no one uses it. This dual lens thing better be for improving photo quality, maybe some depth field measuring or something. Or at least for macro-shots or tilt shift effect in videos (the real kind, not the after effects you can add with an app). Just keep improving the cameras and forget the gimmicky stuff. Thank you.

Am I the only one who is sick and tired of "leaks". I mean, let me rephrase this. Leaks on PA to be specific. Seems like a chimpanzee can post a "leak" and PA would still write about it. Love the website :) Just tired of the same ol' iPhone articles.

No, you are not the only one who's sick of these "leaks"

I don't take any seriously until Apple actually shows the real thing. But it is something to read on Apple - which is better than nothing.

@vincelongman Don't mind Wiencon, he loves to bash PhoneArena and make this site look retarded on each and every opportunity he finds.

I actually defended PA on many occasions especially with those low ratings for chinese phones But ok, I might have sounded like rude towards them

My bad, but they didn't report on this vid earlier yesterday that looked obviously fake

Low Chinese phones ratings? Okay. What about the LG V10 and Xperia Z5 getting 7/10? Is it fair? Come on, man!
