Unlocked Essential Phone now available at Best Buy

The unlocked Essential Phone is now available inside Best Buy stores, and online. Andy Rubin 's Android powered handset will work with all four major stateside carriers and features a tough titanium build. And while the 5.71-inch LCD screen may not have a notch like the Apple iPhone X, it does have a little cut out area at the top of the 1312 x 2560 resolution screen. That is for the phone's front-facing 8MP camera and certain sensors.

Over at Best Buy, you can pick up the unlocked Essential Phone for $699.99. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 835 chipset which includes an octa-core 2.45GHz CPU, and the Adreno 540 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 128GB of native storage. A dual camera setup is found on back (13MP), and keeping the lights on is a 3040 mAh battery. While stock Android Nougat is pre-installed, the Essential Phone will be receiving the update to Android 8.0 in the next month or two.

At nearly $700, you might expect the Essential Phone to include an IP certification rating. The absence of such a rating means that you need to be careful to make sure that you don't get the phone too wet. What you do get is a magnetic port on back for modular accessories, like the 360 degree camera that is now available.

Check out the unlocked Essential Phone by clicking on the sourcelink, or you can visit your local Best Buy location.
