U.S. versions of the Galaxy S III may not see the Jelly Bean update until 2013 (Confirmed)

Just when we thought that Android phone manufacturers have learned their lesson, it seems the same old story is about to repeat itself...

Every single phone you mentioned is either a carrier modded or OEM modded phone. Not one of them was a Nexus, the true Google experience. Before you throw in the towel, try the real thing first. My Galaxy Nexus received the 4.1 update a couple weeks after Google announced it and it runs perfect, no problems noted. While I can see your frustration and agree it should never have been that way, give credit where credit is due and blame where blame is due. In your case, blame should go to Verizon for screwing things up so badly.

I agree with you 100%. People holla get a GSM Nexus, I have the CDMA (Sprint) Nexus and I am Rocking J-Bean also and loving it. I wish the NOTE 2 came out in a Nexus model then I would be all over it, but I guess I have to wait on all 5 Nexus models to arrive :)

I am really loving the LG Nexus leaks but hoping there's a Note style Nexus in the works. If Samsung would release a 5" Nexus screened phone, I'd be all over it if it works on T-Mobile bands. The Note 2 is an impressive beast.

Perhaps not only switch to WP, maybe switch off verizon. They're notorious for not updating phones, as well as overpricing them at launch

I don't understand why android users are so anxious yelling for the update... Isn't the icecream sandwich good enough for you guys? Stay positive and move on

That's right, you don't understand. People buy flagship devices expecting them to treated as such. If we wanted yearly small incremental updates we'd be using IOS.

It just sucks that I spent 260$ on one of the top android phones and we are being left with old software. Jellybean was announced the end of June and we will most likely see it Jan or Feb on our s3's

Yet another reason to exchange if something better comes out. The Force Closes were annoying anyway. I have a case coming for the thin little piece of plastic and glass too...ugh.

CM10 might already be completed by 2013, haha

Well I'm not dissapointed, though I have the S3, but I preordered the Note II so I'll be getting me some Jellybean. But I feel sorry for those who will be waiting for it. Feel like Samsung letted us down after them saying a month or so ago that the S3 will be getting the update really soon.

software is overrated.

Since it's Samsung, this is okay. If it was Apple, they are the worst. This is insane, if I was an S3 user i'd be livid.

I hope you know it's the carriers' fault.

how is every carrier in the US at fault for there being a delay here? that's kind of a long shot. xD

"we presume they might have something to do with carrier testing processes or the slightly different hardware found in those versions of the phone."

Carrier testing will probably be a factor later but if Samsung is coming out to say that there's a delay it's probably something on their end therefore i think it has more to do with the different hardware in the US variants.

Who cares, its just an update. By the time we get this one you'll be over it in a couple hours and will be complaining about how you now have to wait for the next update. Go play with a Nexus, my GS3 feels just as buttery smooth! :)

Yeah because then you won't care about updates. Nothing changes. Well unless they decide to implement another Android feature.

That's why I have the international S3 here in the US. And I am already enjoying Jellybean 4.1.1 (currently waiting for 4.1.2). It is SWEEEEEET!!! By the way it's not rooted either.
