Apple didn't notch the front of the iPhone X in vain (poll results)

We asked you last week whether you are taking real advantage of Apple's notch-inducing TrueDepth camera setup at the front of the iPhone X, be it for unlocking the phone or pulling your tongue out in an Animoji-ed frenzy. It turns out that Apple didn't cut the front of its most expensive phone in vain, as just 25% of the respondents didn't bother to set up face recognition...

I feel the poll misses the point of the notch. Compared to traditional designs the notch does not offer you face unlocking or animated emoji. Those things are available with or without notches. Instead notches provide you with extra screen space. So the real question to ask is - do you make use of the extra screen space, and do you find it useful to have notifications and system icons out of the way.

I have already said this: iOS doesn't use the "notification" bar to display notifications, which means on the X the system icons (battery, signal, bt, clock) have been moved outside the working space; that's why is wrong to say X has a notch, because it actually has "ears" that extend the display.
