If they took 5 minutes to sold out and they are having less than 40000 units. Than I should say very bad performance because in INDIA xiaomi is selling 40000 units in 4 seconds flash sale....

But why does it have such a huge demand I dont get it! LG G3 or Note 4 is of the same price and except for the pure android part, Nexus 6 actually lags behind the other phones in terms of software features as well as hardware (s-pen?). I am very sure they had very very little stock to go with anyway.

because, of the screen size... :) and beautiful design, the front speakers, the screen size, perfect for multi-media, so that's why. :)

You just said screen size twice, note 4 is 5.7inch. Almost the same big and G3 has better sound quality I guess. I dont know maybe google is creating fake hypes by limiting the number of phones they are selling. Unlike previous nexuses which had the advantage of being half the price, this I find very few reasons to actually consider.

1) It's pure Adroid. There are a lot of people that don't like a skin on top of it. 2) Fast updates. Updates are sent out by Google and do not get slowed down by carriers.

For its pure Android without the bloadware from the phone manufactures and carriers... If I need or want any additional program I just go to the Play Store and install it. That's the reason all my phones are Nexus 4 & 5 and not LG G3 or Notes. Now... If the Note was made available in pure Android then it was no contest. But as long as the Note has all that bloatware from Samsung and the carriers is a no buy at all for me. I prefer to pay $700 for a pure Android Nexus 6 at the Play Store than get one for $99 with contract at a carrier with all their useless bloatware installed...

nexus 6 is very compelling device IMO, but the are small details or features I would love to be in there so they can take my money, I'm waiting for xperia z4 btw, i just stated what I like on nexus 6 why it has huge demand, great design, unlike previous nexus, camera design is my favorite to look at in nexus 6, unlike their previous design of nexuses, very generic. ofcourse the fast updates and no bloatwares are the main attraction, plus the material design is also beautiful, so all in all it is a perfect device to those who don't need small features like IP certificiations, LED notification, IR blasters, Pen. and so on.

You lack a certain notion called preferences. There are many who don't care for the Pen (or would rather have stereo speakers) or the countless gimmicky features that Samsung and LG brings. Infact, i believe Google has done a great job with the featured it introduced with Android L. On top of all that, with stock Android you get the fastest updates and a great dev community, if you are into that. May be the only thing Google missed with the Nexus 6 is multi-window, and i say may be because i am not sure if it's as useful as it looks.

if you dont get why people like Nexus phones, then you need to do your research.

I could see why the Nexus 5/4 were in short supply because they hurt LG's G/G2 sales and because they were almost half the price of the other flagships But Moto has no phablet competitor and now the 6 is the same price as other flagships Not sure why Google doesnt want more money

It's like hunger marketing, but with an expensive price in the US. In the US, Nexus devices sold out. In Asian countries, Xiaomi and Huawei devices sold out. Nexus only have a strong demand in US. If for example, the Nexus 6 is available in countries outside US, I think many people won't give a damn about it, at least when it comes to buying from the internet. I'm not interested on the Nexus 6, just only a tad bit on the Nexus 9.

"I wonder if this Gone in 60 Seconds type stuff is cool anymore." It's not cool. I think many people are tired of the games companies are playing. Google is not BlackBerry and I doubt Google had even 200,000 Nexus 6 phones made, which is how many BlackBerry Passport phones BlackBerry had made for initial orders.

I just think that the bulk of the inventory is being reserved for the carriers. There has never been a Nexus phone to have full, discounted carrier support like this. The Google Play store option is very secondary this time around. This is now a carrier phone.

I agree. Until the orders from the carriers are filled, Google won't be selling any more in the Play Store.

Yeah Google isn't doing this on purpose at all.

Hey there Negative Nancy. Why are you complaining about the Nexus 6 selling out as if it's the most offensive thing a company can do? The only bit of positive news for Apple in the last couple months is that their phones sold out. From bending phones, to leaked photos (in the thousands) which was later discovered that they were aware of the security flaw for half a year and did nothing. iOS 8 bricking devices, the phone getting discolored while in people's pants, then there's they whole beard gate thing. Oh, and an iPhone bursting into flames in the pocket of someone who was in a car accident, or the iPhone that burst into flames while in a girls purse that resulted in people evacuating a plane. Then there's the Apple Watch which is ugly and pointless. The NFC that everyone was so excited about is restricted to Apple Pay and retailers are already pulling support and they just got started with that service. Or Apple being directly responsible for bankrupting their sapphire glass provider... ... If you're going to say that a company selling out of their inventory is a bad thing then Apple hasn't done anything at all to be proud of.

This is a reply to Post #11 I knew an old lady that collected bunch of useless shirt buttons, and she tried to show off her collection to everyone, but the collection was so minuscule (non of the buttons really mattered) so no one cared... A few of her old lady friends enjoyed looking at them sometimes, but that's it...

"isn't it striking to see how an arguably niche product for tech geeks seemingly overwhelms the world's biggest internet company?" - OMG so true!!! WTH is google doing with all that money?

This is what I don't get: Droid Turbo gets announced and 2 days later, you have stock. And it's only for Verizon. But Google Nexus 6 gets announced, you got to wait nearly a Damn month for this f'n thing to come out. And it's available supposedly for all 5 carriers. WHAT THE FLYING F&$K? Your telling me all these companies want to compete and not one of them have the balls to get the phone first? COME ON MAN. Yet Motorola wants to get back into the phone games mountain with the big boys. F em.

Lucky I didn't want one. The Nexus 5 came out on the canadian playstore during launch yet this didn't....No wonder Google sold them to Lenovo. They really suck. Where is my Moto 360 in Canada?

I think it's effing ridiculous that Google continues to botch it's nexus launch. Clearly they need to get more capable folks at production and distribution
