Transparent solar films add 20% to your phone's battery life on the cheap

Instead of the complex and expensive projects from the likes of MIT and UCLA that are trying to weave miniature solar cells into the touchscreens themselves, or other projects that harvest the light leaking from OLEDs, SunPartner is just combining traditional with transparent solar cells...

I stopped caring about battery life since getting a note 2. I am a very heavy user of my phone during the day and night and it easily lasts me the day with plenty of charge left when I plug in to go to bed. Includes a few hours if browsing, taking pics and watching youtube.

my gs3 makes it a day if I go easy. but in July I take groups camping and we go 3 to 5 days at a time with out power. Anything that can extend the battery is good for me. between this and my yard light solar panels rigged to portable juice pack I could maybe go the entire time with my phone on. or at least in standby.

So, how are they charging the battery? I'm assuming inductive but that seems like it would take forever just using solar power.

It isn't meant as a primary charger. The approach or thought is to increase the duration of your battery as you use it throughout the day or lighted environments.

I'm always trying to find thin sheets of scratchable plastic to put on top of my Gorilla Glass screen.... This could be the answer!

I'm really not a fan of charging my phone constantly. Every battery has it's own charge cycles, so imo it might affect the battery's endurance or something...
