As long as Samsung continues to make phones as great as my Galaxy Note II, they will continue to receive my money. After having this phone for 2 weeks, I can honestly say that I have no regrets in the purchase, and look forward to its followup.

Apple deserves to be in the top. I will be getting my daughter an iPhone 5, as her bugging will not allow me to forget. I did consider it before getting my Note II, but I needed a phone that could also double as a tablet. Yet, it was an impressive phone build, and a nod to Apple for not cutting corners.

It is sad to see HTC drop so far. I spent years with their phones in my pocket, and rarely regretted it. Although, after getting the EVO 3D, I never looked at them the same way -- their quality just did not show, and it was at a time when too many others were aiming for the top spot. I am not sure they will be able to recover without outshining every competitor, and reestablishing their name.

The 3D was one of the most poorly constructed phones HTC ever made. They're back to making solid, high-quality phones. Unfortunately I don't think this will matter for them. You'll notice that most companies on this list are gigantic conglomerates (Samsung, Apple, LG, Sony to name the most obvious) with ungodly pools of resources to pull from. Not only that, but these companies are able to utilize their other products to form brand ecosystems between their other products such as laptops, TVs, peripherals (heck even kitchen appliances) that small one-trick pony companies like HTC, Nokia, and RIM simply can't compete with. Unfortunately it's looking like the smartphone market is shifting in favor of these conglomerates (with Samsung leading the charge), and the days of the small "smartphone-only" company will be a thing of the past.

Rather impressive that Samsung managed to beat out #2-4 combined. Or #4-10 combined.

Very surprising to see RIM on the list- means they aren't doing so bad

I say LG moves way up if they keep making phones like the Optimus G.

Sony should be there instead of Samsung. Samsung makes all crappy plastic things when I see samsung galaxy grand and s4 I don't see any difference. I recently purchased xperia sp then I came to know what a phone we can get 400$ or ₹22000. The world needs to be awaken up don't purchase samsung it's from the background of Korea the country has learnt to make electronics from Japanese. Everyone in the world knows japan is the best when it comes to electronics so please don't buy samsung. Apple is also very good at least it makes quality products but if you want to buy mid range device always buy sony xperia no galaxy(plastic). Xperia will be the best in upcoming years if the world gives it a chance I my self was a samsung galaxy user but when I saw xperia then I came to know I've been fooled by samsung!! So please don't be fooled go ahead and purchase xperia :)
