Tim Cook uses his iPad for 80% of his work

Apple has often said that the iPad can be a replacement for quite a lot of the things you might need to do on a daily basis. Some people still need a more full featured computer for advanced tasks, like hardcore gaming or video production, but most things can be handled on a tablet. And, Tim Cook appears to be proving that true by doing 80% of his work on an iPad...

He also could just be exaggerating it... Apple blatantly lies in their marketing all the time just to keep their products moving. The fact that Android tablets are finally set to outsell the iPad probably is scaring them into saying things like this. And before any fan boys argue that Apple isn't afraid of Android, spare me.... Apple has to watch out for their profit margins in order for their stock prices to keep climbing which it's good for their shareholders. They'll say any marketing spin lie they can think of to keep their products moving off the shelves because it's best for their shareholders pockets.

First, shareholders are dumbish, the stock is flying up and down based on what they want, not on what is the company doing. Second, if Apple would blatantly lie about its products, they wouldn't be so popular as people aren't dump, you can't make a worse product sell best just by gigantic advertising campaign (see samsung galaxy S5). The best advertising are happy consumers and Apple has an quantum of that. Third, Apple is just angry about android as google has completely ripped them off while they were very good partners at that time. Apple absolutely isn't afraid of android and I can't see how could a crapload of hundreds of millions android tablets sold for free influence Apple's margins in any way.

The iphones are youre proof that marketing can sell inferior products. Starting from the 3gs or 4 if im correct. Before 1 of those 2 the iphones where better than the androids. If you make a list of pros and cons with a iphone 5s and a m8/z2/s5/g3 the iphone will lose every time and its the most expensive. But people will chose what they want, listen to salesman, commercials or look at what friends have

"Second, if Apple would blatantly lie about its products, they wouldn't be so popular as people aren't dump..." Majority of Apple users are just a trend follower, they don't care about the technical characteristics, they care only about Apple logo on the back of the device.

Are you also a CEO of a multi billion dollar company? Can you prove that he's lying?

I guess this means TC is just hanging with Dre, doing "Beats" stuff. TC uses his iPad to pick colors for new Beats headphones and look over the models they are going to pick for the new Beats commercials. No wonder Apple doesn't get much done anymore. TC likes to chill.

A jailbroken ipad can handle 100% of my daily tasks. On cydia there are apps that allow you to run up to four apps at the same time, upload and download files to the web using safari, get a file manager plus connect a mouse to the ipad. A jailbroken ipad can replace a atom based laptop... Still though, I am selling my ipad and I am buying the core i3 version of the surface pro3.

"Still though, I am selling my ipad and I am buying the core i3 version of the surface pro3." I agree, it is better decision than buying an iPad!

That 1GB of RAM can't really do much. I can't have more than three tabs open in Safari without it crashing and restarting so I'll take your comment with a truck load of salt.

Let's be honest, a CEO doesn't have to do much "work" that requires a full blown computer. They mostly attend meetings, and review documents and emails. Now if a lead engineer, designer, or architect said this... that'd be impressive.

So 80% of his work consists of doing nothing? Interesting... In all seriousness though, his work must consist of checking email and replying with very few words (if typing), keeping a calendar of his meetings, and that's it. Any substantial amount of typing will require a keyboard, and forget about doing any "real work" that involves heavily formatted typing in word or excel documents with tons of data and formulas. Not going to happen. There are some things the iPad will never be able to replace.

One can easily do a ton of work on their iPad. I'm using my lovely iPad 4 to type this right now, ive also used it to do research for uni assignments, edit those assignments, download and do past papers when studying etc... Believe it or not iPads are quote capable when loaded with the correct applications and with their excellent keyboards, stability and fluidity of iOS, it's quite easy to use for many things. The only thing that really sucks is if you try heavily multitask, especially with Safari, that can get pretty disastrous.

I agree with you. With an tablet you can do allot of your job maybe all of it. It just depends on what job you have. With my job i can do almost 100% on my z2 tablet. At least of the indoors work. But tbh my phone cam do the same thing hooked up to the keyboard. It just more comfortable on a bigger screen. Also there is no problem with multitasking here
