"There's iPhone and then there's everything else," says Apple in response to Samsung Galaxy S 4 unveiling

0. phoneArena posted on 16 Mar 2013, 19:48

With the Samsung Galaxy S 4 catching 99.99% of the buzz in the last two days, Apple is fighting back with a post on its website explaining why you should buy an Apple iPhone 5 instead of the Samsung Galaxy S 4; expanding on the "it just works" thought, Apple says that owners of its iconic smartphone say that it does so many things, so easily...

Except the iPhone can only run one app on its screen at a time, whereas the S4 like the Note II and do real multitasking and much more. Not to mention the iPhone's screen resolution is too low to watch HD videos and the S4 can show you HD+ videos. Come on guys comparing these phones is pointless when there is a few years difference in technology.

does the s4 actually support multiwindows? can't find any reference about it.

I wondered about that too. On the videos I have seen, I see the multi-window tab to the left on the screen, but it has not been discussed during reviews(except for on one site). That seems to suggest that multi-window won't be available when the phone is released. I DO NOT know if that is indeed the case, it's just surprising that it has not been mentioned at all. I wonder if this is going to be the same annoying thing as last year when the Note 2 was released without multi-windows initially.

"Only iPhone has this and that."

It should be "Still the iPhone has only this and that."

that's a pretty bold statement there Apple...

Desperate? i don't think Apple is desperate at all b/c they don't have to be. the Android crowd still can't grasp why Apple is still relevant but the sooner you realize that most ppl don't care about all the intricate/anal features that Android fans thrive on then it will make sense. the only thing that keeps me on iPhone is their music player capability. the music player user interface is the best out there. also the way my music auto-syncs between all my other devices (iPad/MacBook) is seamless. Samsung's mp3 UI looks cool but doesn't exactly have the best function. Same to be said for HTC, Moto, Blackberry & LG (which LG doesn't count as a real smart phone manufacturer, they just copy whatever Samsung does). Had an S3 before & it really came down to the mp3 capability that i was unsatisfied with Android which is 90% of what i use my phone for (i'm a serious music junkie). everything else about the phone was pretty decent tho. I understand that Play Music works pretty well as far as syncing but again, it just comes down to the stock mp3 players that i don't care much for which keeps me away from Android.

Sorry but this is the definition of desperate.

There are TONS of music players available in the play store that would suit your needs. Like 3(cubed), WikiTunes, n7 player, and sorry Google's Play Music has a much better UI then Apple right now. The lack of cover flow is a big mistake that they should have corrected looooong ago. Anyway, if that's the only thing stopping you from getting an Android device, there are hundreds of fixes for it. Just have a look in the Play Store when you get a chance, there's bound to be something you'll like.

Why do you see people with bifocals in wheels chairs using the iPhone? Because that's who they're made for.

well, i really don't care for some small awards, samsung won both the phone and smartphone company of the year in mwc, probably the biggest mobile gadget awards.

i don't hate apple but " "Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software" hardware ? seriously ? they still depend on LG and sharp to make their display. apple is just the QC, it's LG and sharp's engineers that create the display.

whenever you have a tin can that is empty, it makes loud sound, that is apple right now

I've owned an Iphone since day one and honestly Im waiting for another phone to wow me b4 I jump off apples band wagon. The software im bored with it. Yes they made an improvement in specs but honestly I believe if apple doesn't make major changes in the next release many iphone fans will realize they are being cut short. Pretty much if apple doesn't make any changes soon I see them heading in the same direction as RIM.

LOL @ Apple

Maybe 5 years ago or so, whenever the original iPhone hit but now... iPhone is a joke.

The only people still buying iPhones are the Apple loyalist & the people trapped by all the apps they don't want to lose/re-buy.

I swear if Apple & Android had a way to use each others apps natively the iPhone would lose 50% of it's market.

Funny how Nokia, Blackberry, HTC and Sony flagship announcements all failed to elicit this response from Apple.

Hmmm, I wonder what that means...

Interesting point. Seems like they talk about Samsung more than their own iPhone.

Apple execs are up to date on the latest Android news. They must have been viewing it on an Android tablet. Perhaps on a Note 8.0 with multi-windows.

a very good observation. at least Apple knows competition when they see one. As good as the devices of other manufacturers, they still can't compete with Samsung's market share and revenue for now.

Excellent point!!! The HTC One is a very good phone compared to the S4 but Samsung has the marketing muscle to out sale it. That alone is making Apple very nervous.

But what gets me so upset is that we all know what Apple should do; just release a 4" iPhone in the Fall and a 5" model in Spring. The one size fits all phone model does not work and Samsung knows this.

Smells of desperation and insecurity. This isn't how successful companies should act and represent themselves.

This time I am hoping Samsung fail!

Is time lesson a company that never care on design by re-use same design over and over again.

This year is the year for HTC and Sony.

I said it on the Google Plus page and I'll say it here: Apple is the master of bulls**t propaganda.

There was not a single point they posted on that page that couldn't be refuted by any of the top Android devices out there.

It is nice to see Apple so worried though. ;)
