The official Apple Store app now supports Apple ID card payments via Touch ID

With the latest update of the official Apple Store app for iOS comes something that has been rumored for a while now - Apple ID payments for stuff there authorized by a simple Touch ID finger scan, in addition to the current password option. After the update, iOS users will no longer need to have their credit cards set up in Wallet first to use Touch ID, but can just approve their Store payments with Touch ID, and the app will use the card they have on file in the main Apple ID account anyway.

That's an added layer of convenience, and something many iOS users have been clamoring for ever since Touch ID was introduced. Other new features that come with the update are the ability to authorize peeping into your Apple ID account settings with Touch ID, and an option to check local iPhone stock availability - you know, in case your future iPhone 8 is in short supply, and it's raining. These and other new uses for Touch ID can lead to the thought that Apple will inevitably have it present on the "all-screen" OLED iPhone 8 as well, though where exactly will it be placed, remains to be seen.
